On the front page of ESPN.com is the following poll: Which accusation is most disturbing to you as a sports fan? The choices - Tim Donaghy's alleged NBA betting, or Vick's involvement in dogfighting. Amazingly (to me, anyway) out of over 104,000 responses in the US, 55% chose the Donaghy story. Sure, shaving points is wrong, but I can't think of many things in life more disturbing than dogfighting. Certainly a ref succumbing to shaving points to alleviate his gambling problem is despicable, but more disturbing than dogfighting?
Maybe it's just that I'm a dog-lover, but I don't even see how these two story's compare in terms of which is more disturbing. Surely the 55% who svoted for the Donaghy story haven't read or heard the severity of the allegations against Vick, which include shooting and even electrocuting dogs that lost their fight(s). Is it just me, or is that about as disturbing as it gets?
