    What draws you............
.........to forum posting? I think there are several types of personalities that makes posting so appealing to various individuals. Maybe there are more classifications but I'm fairly certain that these are but a few of the different types.

Loners: People who for whatever reason just prefer to be alone yet crave anonymous interaction of others.

Outcast: People that just don't have a place in life. They just don't really fit in, in any situation.

Narcissist: All you care about is yourself. Regular life environments don't work for you because normal people aren't capable of focussing 100% attention on you.

Loser: Your a combination case. Don't fit in, don't comprehend. Basically you're a mess and in the real world people either don't notice you or purposely ignore you.

God Complex: You think you know everything about everything. No-one even comes close to being as smart as you are. Regardless of the topic you know more, have seen more, done more and are more. In the real world you would tend to get your ass beat too often so you come to the only place where you can be everything you are in your mind and don't have to worry about getting pummeled.

Delusionally Intelligent: Yes you are super friggin smart and you don'y mind letting people know it. In the real world you too would get your ass kicked from people that tired of you reminding them how stupid they were and how smart you are. At least online your monitor doesn't throw punches.

Shy and Timid: Your pretty normal. Average to above average intelligence. Well rounded sense of humor. Fair sense of how things work in life. Yet there is that one thing, you just don't interact well with others. Not confrontational but rather just too shy to be a part of the group. Online is the closest thing you have to normal interactions with people.

Cynical: Not just cynical but to the extreme, maxed out jaded. You agree with nothing and no-one and in real world environments people would rather Micheal Angelo their ears than to listen to you rip everything about everything.

Delusionally Hip: You are a sad sort indeed. You are convinced you are witty and en vogue. You crack yourself up coining new phrases and laugh your ass off at your own jokes. In the real world you're the only one laughing but online with so many mal-adjusted sorts eventually your stuff catches on.

Speech Impaired: You may stutter or just not speak that well. People online can't hear you so it is the perfect environment for you to express yourself and not be leered at.

I know there are others. Feel free to add on to the classifications. I tried and tried and could not for the life of me come up with one scenerio where an absolute perfectly normal individual would be categorized. If someone can PLEASE do cause I am curious. I thought I was normal but the very fact I am here so much suggest otherwise.

What about downtime at work? I am sure that I am not the only poster posting from the office.

That works House. That could be the one situation a perfectly normal guy is doing this. I do it from work as well but then I am also doing it from home after work also. So I came close to normal and then crossed over to afflicted.

This is the 1st forum I have been apart of. 1 day I just googled NBA picks and it bought me here. What kept me here was PT. I enjoyed the comedy and then as time went by, I made a lot of friends including u Wal, and here I am still posting today

                    adding.........

Attention Craving Whore Mongral: Your regular friends give it but it isn't enough. Your family gave it but it wasn't enough. You have an uncontrolable defect that requires continuous me time. You don't really have anything of value to say or add, you just simply want to be heard or noticed. This results in real world people avoiding you or having to make excuses to leave you but in the online community there are those so desperate for their own attention they will respnd to you thinking it's about them. Thus the cycle continues and you are getting yours, they are getting theirs and no-one really getting anything out of it.

Good post wal. I enjoy getting to speak about sport handicapping topics and sharing picks, things that aren't really socially acceptable to discuss with friends and family.

I'm same as paco, first ever site I've posted at and found it looking for a legit sportsbook to make a deposit into.

I enjoy sports wagering and pretty much everything associated with it. As my wife is so fond of saying, " if it does not involve golf or gambling my husband isn't interested". Anyway, the forum is the only venue that I have found to discuss sports wagering with like minded people. I am certainly not a loner, outcast etc...

I'm a little of all of the above with the exception of speech impaired I guess. Some parts more than others. For instance the attention seeking whore part. I don't personally like going out of my way to be noticed in my evryday life but I do appreciate recognition. I like when I post something and it reaches someone else. Be it a wise crack or something substancial, when it touches someone and generates a response I like it.

I'm not a loser by nature but Im not a total winner either. I don't have a God complex but I do tend to think my opinions are generally better than yours.

I'm not really narcissistis but if I happen to say something relevant I like to get noticed. I am definately delusionally intelligent. I am convinced I something about everything until I say it and realize I wished I had remained silent. I am 100% cynical. Not really that shy but I don't like crowds either.

I have an addictive personallity. When I do something I get totally into it and until I realize I am in too deep or it finally gets boring I tend to do it a lot. I started out posting just during football season and maybe the start of basketball. Then I wouldn't post again till the next season. This year though I started playing around in Players talk and found a few people I liked. Found some I didn't like as well. The ones I liked I enjoyed conversing and sharing with. the ones I didn't like I enjoyed debating and countering. Eventuall I realized I was posting here more than the sub forum. I got addicted. Tere have been a couple of days where events made me question if I wanted to continue but so far I have decided I do.

Almost forgot. I am the most opinionated person you'll ever meet. My real world friends are tired of hearing me speak my mind. Here I get to release.

Lots of ditto's there Wal. I am a person of few interests, but I'm a totalist, an absolutist and an addict. Poker, stock-trading, forum posting, multi-player games...anything I get hooked into, it's very hard to leave afterward, unless I either master it, or realize it would eventually lead to a major crisis. Add that to the fact I simply can't lose, and you get the very forum poster writing this. The latter has caused me many problems with poker mainly, took me 2 good years to go black..

I like the depth you bring into the forums, Wal.

Interesting question Wal. I mean it. You really must have put a bunch of thought into it. You are awesome!!!

Kidding with you. I'm not sure how I fit into you categories, but I know how I got here and I know why I stay.

A few years ago I thought I want to try sports betting and stumbled across this site while looking for an online sports book. For the next few years I primarily lurked. I probably signed up before with a long since forgotten handle. If I had a half dozen posts, I would be stunned. I was simply reading, looking for angles I hadn't thought about.

Why do I post today? For me, this place is like a bar you go to every night after work. You talk sports, politics, entertainment, you name it. As a married guys with kids, my bar days are few and far between. Checking out what is going on here is easy. I can stop in for a bit, see what's happening and then leave. I also enjoy whenever there is a good in-game thread going. It's like watching a game with the guys.

A forum like this is unique in that you have us guys in Players Talk and then you go to the NFL forum and you see guys with 5000 posts you have never heard of. Players Talk is a far more diverse group. Yea guys like you listed but a whole lot of regular guys who like a contest or two and some bs'ing around. Guys in the sports forums are mostly serious fans/sports addicts who love to cap and play the games.

I join forums and participate mostly to learn, and to share what little knowledge I have. I belong to only a few forums: this one, a 911 forum, a Ferrari forum, and a Mercedes forum. I currently spend most of my time on this one, since it directly impacts my income. I don't see that I fit into any of your categories, but maybe my GF would disagree...

Wal, you're describing everybody in general. Don't see why posters are different than anybody else. Never met anyone "normal" in my life.
I don't see why some feel the need to justify themselves. Poor self esteem I guess. I blame the British.

I need somebodies to share my winnings and losing frustrations with. Simple. Plus seeing all the delusional posters helps keep me grounded and lets me know that some posters are more pitiful than worm shit.

I'm into sports gambling, so I post here... I guess, to contribute and talk sports betting.
