Almost forgot, i saw him on Monday, went to his place with my wife at lunch time, said 1)he dropped his phone and it broke, so thats why he didn't call me back. 2)says he has a 1000 deductible for his insurance, so get 3 estimates, which i've done now and emailed him the info. 3)still has no phone apparently, so not sure when he will call me back, will be visiting him again by Friday if nothing.

So bottom line, something will be happening by friday/monday. Body shops are closed on the weekend, want to get it in Monday because it will take 3 to 4 days to fix, and i'll need a rental in the time being.

Guy, this is some funny shit. I totally believe what you say.

The fact of the matter is 90% of the credit card companies will put an extended hold on this "payment". If you normally pay $100 or $200 a month, then you pay $5k, this raises flags. Hence the extended hold.

You really don't go into detail about it hurting your credit a bit. It doesn't hurt it a bit, it hurts it a lot. For them to offer a settlement most likely your card has been charged off. That is a huge hit.

8 out of 10 times this won't work specifically why I said. You can count on overdraft fees from your bank plus nsf charges from the credit card.

Honestly you seem proud of doing this. Haven't you grown up? You seem like your late 30's but have the mindset of a nutty 20 year old.

Rob, the payment hold thing is all dependent on you/the card/your payment history. I mean i did this and i know for FACT that 7500 is doable with B OF A. like i also said, use a bank account thats closed, but has been used before, no fees that way. And it doesn't hurt that much, i do settlements for others BTW, and i know the exact "damage" it does, for what you get, its worth it. 6 months later, it won't even matter.

Not saying its for everyone, or even advocating it. Just telling you its "possible"
