#2I've been skeptical, but I hear it's pretty damn impressive.

#3Shams, I have watched several CNET reviews from the latest CES Show and it seems everything is coming 3D now but several reports are that fast moving action tends to blur badly. This first edition of 3D is designed to get your juices flowing but like all technology it will be old news before you get it home. Sounds like it's a neat trick and it something worthy of special events or a night out at the movies but for everyday use it's a pain in the ass.Comment -

#8I hear a LOT of people saying that including my uncle so I asked him "didn't you go see Avatar in 3D"..? he said "yeah and it was so cool dude"... I said "doesn't it cost more to watch it in 3D"..? and he said yeah so I think you see my point.. Glasses will disappear inside 5 years anyway...Originally posted by MrXI've been skeptical, but I hear it's pretty damn impressive.

I am not sure about that but we'll see... I know that color is sometimes an issue but I was told that the TWO PROJECTOR setup I plan on using with not have those issues... but as I said we'll see....Originally posted by wal66Shams, I have watched several CNET reviews from the latest CES Show and it seems everything is coming 3D now but several reports are that fast moving action tends to blur badly. I don't doubt that you own a "3D Ready TV" but you have NOT watched a football, hockey, or golf match on it because there has NOT been anything "BROADCAST" in 3D for the homes yet... June 11th will be the first time and ESPN along with Discovery are rolling out their 3D networks so I think it's not only here to stay but 3D is where HD was 10 years ago...Originally posted by PayUpSukkafoot ball is great so is golf. soccer can be blury and hockey is ok...but not great.

Sh*t bro. in 5 years most people will have 3D Ready TV's likely "OLED's"... I don't think a 3D Ready LED TV is really much more then a LED TV that is not 3D Ready (all other specs. constant)...Originally posted by minet123Just wait 5 years and if you have too see that big game in 3d just go to the bigger sports bar they will have invested in it

#12They will be LCD Shutter glasses to basically simulate an eye trick that is why they are needed right now...
I highly doubt this will flop because the networks have been testing this for almost 20 years... They ran tests on "HOME IMPROVEMENT" in the mid 90's as well as other shows... Every network has a 3D camera crew now and I think you'll see that this is no fad...

#15If we did that none of us would have had cell phones until a few years ago... The same people that say they won't wear glasses to watch a football game in 3D are the same ones who paid extra for Avatar and LOVED IT!!!Originally posted by eidolonpeople who buy the newest thing, always get the crappy edition of it. 3D will be a bigger jump then HD so I don't believe people when they say they won't get it... Some people with certain eye conditions won't be able to see 3D anyway...

#17Sky TV in the UK broadcast the Arsenal v Manchester United match on Sunday in 3D to a few pubs/clubs. By all accounts it was stunning but I would agree that it will take a good few years before it is commonly used in households.Comment -

Yes that is why I left "soccer" out when I stated the above poster did NOT view 3D sports on his TV... I was not sure if he was in the states because I knew they were doing some soccer in 3D but was not sure if it was in theaters like here or homes...Originally posted by DunderSky TV in the UK broadcast the Arsenal v Manchester United match on Sunday in 3D to a few pubs/clubs. It will take a few years no matter how good it is to be common... It will be more common as they add more 3D channels... It's not like you'll have a choice... Nearly every TV now is HD and in 5 years most OLED TV's will be 3D but before that I believe 2011 will be the year that kicks off the 3D TV craze which will be bigger than the HD hype... I don't think people realize that NETWORKS have ALREADY geared up for this after decades of work.... A 3D camera has TWO lenses so for 3D to happen it takes cooporation from every level and that IS HAPPENING... HD is clearer but 3D gives the appearance of depth not to mention that 3D is really SUPER HIGH HD with a trick anyway...
The bottom line is if you guys made the jump to HD then you will make the jump to 3D because it's a BIGGER JUMP... This is going to be like going from BW to color...

#25I had an interesting conversation with the DTV CS Rep. today... He said hardly anything is transmitted in 1080P because of the cost and MOST HD is in 720P... On Demand is all 1080P though... He also said DTV is moving towards having their receivers all be online via WiFi at some point...
In regards to the 3D service he said all you will need is a TV that is 120Hz. or better to get ESPN 3D and your current HD receiver will do a simple software upgrade.. I don't know if 120 Hz. = 3D Ready but what I do know is 120Hz. in 3D is 60 Hz. for each eye so he may be right but you still need the LCD shutter glasses... He also said DTV launched some sat. into space on Dec. 28th to handle the 3D broadcasting...
you MAY have seen SIMULATED 3D but what you are not understanding is box or no box you can't watch 3D if it is NOT RECORDED IN 3D... ca'pche..? So yeah maybe that's why it sucked because it was simulated and not really 3D... It's like taking an HD TV back to the 80's and expecting an HD picture when nothing was being broadcast in HD...Originally posted by PayUpSukkau r right and wrong....MOST people dont have it yet. #26laser tvs are probably the next big tv on the market moving serious units...3d is definitely a good idea and a good technological advancement they can share with other industries aswell. the information-detail you can transmit with the laser-quality light makes the picture really really good.
Like video games...if you've ever seen any of what the new xbox is going to be like- project
natal?...then you could see easily why 3d would be a very good idea and an applicable convenience to that industry, with the propper planning.Comment
