Goodell implied he was interested in doing this. Something I like is to award either an extra timeout per half for each game difference at the end of the regular season, and two of these bonus timeouts can be traded for removing one of an opponent. This would make every game matter.

A question here would be when should the team with the bonus be able to disallow timeouts, since it couldn't be done in real time (e.g. "timeout! let me check if the other team wants to nix it... okay they sez yes lol soz!"). During change of possessions and timeouts would be ideal notification periods IMO, or possibly extending to all plays that involve clock stoppages.

What do you think? Any ideas of your own? Discuss.

He doesn't have to do anything. The Eagles, Pats, and Bengals learned their lesson. That is 3 down 29 more to learn the lesson.

I posted the solution a couple of weeks ago and Terrapin hit it on the head. Every team that loses a game in week 17 would have to give up a 5th round draft pick. That would effectively cut the shit of the NFL. Tanking games is unAmerican and should be illegal.

I'm glad as hell Cinci got their asses kicked today. I can only hope the Colts go up in flames as well. BTW - the Pat's didn't tank. They lost Welker and that probably led to the debacle today.

That makes the difficulty of the last opponent too important. How is my idea not better? It would make every single game meaningful for playoff contenders.
