    New Guy with Questions!!
    Hello...

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to everyone. I am a new guy to this forum, and am pretty new to sports betting.

I have always loved "picking" the games, but have not ever done it for money. I am a fan of SBR.com and have been reading for about two years, but just have never posted.

    Anyway, to the point...

I have heard all types of stuff about off-shore betting and was curious what was true and what is false.

    For example, for US citizens...

    Is it legal?

How do you get funds to the wager site? I have heard that some will take your credit/debt card (or let you deposit straight from your checking account). BUT, I have a friend at a bank that told me if I did that, my card/account would get canceled!!!

Also, I was told that the method you deposit, is the method you withdrawl...? I have also heard that if I have a check made out to me from Bodog, or SportsBook.com, etc. that a bank WONT cash it...?? How do you even get your money??

Also, I have heard that I can go to jail by playing online....? Is this true.??

Sorry for all the questions...but from what I have read on here, most of you guys seem to know whats going on and what is legit. THere also seems to be some legislation that was passed recently and I dont know what it was...and dont want to burn myself by not know what it was.

Any help would be appreciated very much.

    Thanks sooooo much...!

      1. It is illegal to bet offshore period
      2. Funding and withdrawing=western union
      3. not likely to go to jail betting online, gov't goes after books not players.

Son I am here to help you

      Good Luck

        Thanks....

However, the #2 (Western Union)....I was told about that, and I did call them. They told me that they would not fund (or give money from) an off-shore game site.

I understand that they may not know where it is coming from, but if they suspect it, they wont deal with it, and that they would turn the recipient in...!!

I don't know how serious they were, or if this is a problem anyone has dealt with...but if it is a problem, it seems like a "high" risk solution.

Thanks for the input....any more input is welcome!!

        Thanks

Welcome to the SBR forum Sarge

Either Western Union or a certified check sent via Fedex would be the best way to fund your account/accounts.

            Sarge,

When you send Western Union, you would NOT send it to the sportsbook by name. Contact the book you wish to deposit to, and they will give you a name of an agent and a location to send it to. That way, it just looks like a person-to-person transaction in Western Union's eyes.

              LT Profits...

That makes more sense about the Western Union thing...however, how do they not catch on to this??

Is it safer to use Western Union...or one of the online deposit forms...??

I think I saw one the other day about having to buy phone minutes and convert them to dollars at the book site.

I have made many western union deposits in my lifetime without any problems. The books usually only use an angent's name once to abvoid multiple large transactoon sent to the same name, plus that means all the deposits go to a different person, which also helps it slip under the ** radar.

The phone minutes you are referring to are through Nucharge, which as far as I know is only available at Bodog, at least as far as sportsbooks go. I would NOT recommend Bodog to anyone though.

How do the payouts work with Nucharge. From what it sounds is that when you get your payout its credited back to your Nucharge account?

If thats the case can you get your money back from Nucharge? Or are you stuck with the pre paid phone minutes?

                    2119,

I think when you request a Nucharge payout, they send you an echeck. Sounds very Netelleresque.
