I haven't got a refund since 1997, I pay taxes each quarter. I get eaten alive in taxes. It is well worth it though for the life I have given myself.

I don't cut corners one bit, if anything I don't write off enough. I own a business that is all over the map in the way of taxes... Probably one of the most difficult for an accountant.

So since April of 2008 I have mentioned how much I make twice.



And in both instances I mentioned it in a thread that was discussing finances (what to do with a tax return and working a 9-5 job).

Did you give to the salvation army or charity this year? The guy who does our taxes say you could usually write off a certain % of your salary before they question it. I forget what he said either 1.8% or 3.8%. Something like that.

I go maybe twice a year and just save the carbon copy just to be safe.
