Someone told me today that if you wagered 1000 on the Yanks evry game this year, so far you would be down around 30,000. Is that accurate?

Not 30K, but above 20K. The Yankees are roughly down -21.83 units on the year thus far.
On the other hand, the Mariners are the money makers. Up roughly 19 units on the year thus far.Comment -
The yanks are like the dallas cowboys of old. They are americas betting team in MLB. The lines are always inflated since a lot of people will bet them regardless. I try and avoid that trap but well shit happens and I've been grabbed twice now.Comment -

very good points about the Yankees being overrated and overhyped..but as MonkeyFocker pointed, a sharp and astute handicapper can use this to his/her advantage...I can also tell you that the totals of every Yankee game are exaggerated as well...Simply put, Vegas and Books give these guys too much respect...on any given day, the total for yanks games is on average 10.5 and about 70% of the time the game goes under!...it's how I made most of money in baseball this year and normally I love to bet the overs.Comment -

Actually, Yankee UNDERS have been just barely profitable this year, at 41-37-10, 52.6%, +2.64 units.
Interestingly, with games that had a posted total of 10 or higher, the Under is only 18-23-6 for -5.66 units. HOWEVER, in games with single-digit posted totals, the Under is 23-14-4, 62.2%, +8.30 units!Comment -

I guess I was fortunate to hit them, then!..LOL!..still, I guess it appeared to me that a higher percentage of them when under because every time I went under on 10.5 or greater, I won the wager..This was especially true earlier in the year when they were playing the rangers, and mariners...Most of those games had over-inflated totals and the majority of those went under the listed line...I guess with that powerful lineup, every once in a while they Yanks will cover by themselves but the irony is the fact that they haven't done shit offensively with the exception of A-ROD...It seems like they have been in a season long slump...but now with the dog days of summer coming up fast, I except them to erupt and throw some lumber around!Comment
