Is New York City given favoritism? Why did 9-11 victims families get $?Others don't!
God bless anyone that was killed in 9-11 and my heart goes out to them and their families but is there a bias where they all got allot of government money for their loss when in similar instances of terrorism the victims families don't get a penny from the government.Just a few months ago 10 people were shot and murdered in a Salt Lake City mall by a foreign born kid from Albania that was Muslim. They aren't getting a penny from the government. Then what about all the kids that were murdered by the foreign born loner at Virginia Tech. There is no talk of their families getting 1.7 million bucks on average that 9-11 victims families got.

The wives of victims became pretty whiny and demanding where they got what was coming to them in life insurance, social security benefits for the entire family, allot of $$$from The United Way and other charities that ripped them off keeping half and then the government payout. Most of these widows now had an extra 4-8 million bucks. They were all whining as to how they could survive with the money they had living in NYC.Maybe they should have thought about taking their 6 million bucks and moving to Idaho,Nevada,Utah or Wyoming where 6 million bucks is worth 5 times more than in New York City and your lifestyle all around is 500% better. They really whined allot!!!

The understanding of 9-11 I have where the government paid victims families off was the government didn't want the airlines to be sued by the victims families and the payoff was a bribe. They didn't want the airlines to go to court saying that it was the government and not them that screwed up letting the whole 9-11 bunch get in the planes.

The thing I never understood about 9-11 was why Bush was reading to a class of 1st graders when it all went down and not on a red phone hotline in contact with fighter pilots deciding whether to shoot the planes down.

Then they found the wallet of one of the hijackers on the street undisturbed. Then there were an unusual amount of middle easterners shorting airline stocks and buying oil stocks the day before. Then there was a ban on airline traffic for almost a week after 9-11 but a plane got the entire Bin Laden family out of the country. Then there never was any wreckage recovered in the field in Pennsylvania.More than likely the airforce destroyed the plane with a missile which might have been a wise decision but they couldn't fess up to it.

I'm not saying coincidences and weird things don't happen in a crisis but the government does not want to answer to allot of questions concerning 9-11 and that stuff bugs me.

First off, I'm a bit baffled why this is suddenly a problem you're having, Brent.

Secondly, I'm not entirely sure that the belief in only families of NYC victims on September 11th are, or will be, the only ones to receive compensatory damages. It was my understanding that when family members accept a settlement from the outfit they set up, then you waive future legal action. If that's true, then this is probably a very cost effective way to manage such a large group of people who were potential beneficiaries. I'm not necessarily saying they should've received the settlements, just that in the real world that's the way it works out.

So this was really just one class action suit in many ways. I think the guys name who headed that up originally was Feinberg, will have to look that up to verify. But he was a very interesting guy to listen to, explained some rather complicated issues in very simple language.

I believe there are a lot of lawsuits out there right now filed by the families of Pentagon victims and Flight 93 victims. So until those are all tossed out, you can't really say NYC area folks are being favored at all, unless you simply mean they were given the #1 slot in line.

I'm sure all these "whiny widows" would give up there millions in a heartbeat to get there spouses back. Jesus, there has to be something better to worry about.
