Philippines was a Spaniard colony in Asia, Esperanto, which is the name of their language is a mix between their native polinesius (or however that's said in english) and spanish, a lot of expressions are the same in Esperanto and Spanish. A very few of their lastnames are the original ones, in the age when it was colonized, spain substituted most of their's for spaniard ones since they were too stupid (Spaniards) to be able to at least try to say them. And yes, they're definitely not near to the caribbean islands.
