20 years ago we had the magical parlay football cards the airport bookie passed out

he would leave a stack inside the now Defunct Pan Am Airways locker room for the boys to pick up..like the souvenir shops leave out brochures

when the flight came in and they were all working it I would go and take a giant stack and pass them out among my friends..I told them i was giving the cards to the bookie but I was betting, buying weed and munching out on their cash

4th week in some guy hits a 4 teamer for 50 bucks..It was good for 500 bucks..I did not have 50 cents in my pocket and had already smoked and joked and carried on with his money..back then the fastest way to get scores was to call a sports hotline..I remember how I died when I saw his last game hit

I told him the truth..Then , because I ran the show..I would send him home 2-3 hours early and keep him on the clock for 2-3 weeks..It fukked me bad because I had to pick up his slack and do my own job
