I Got this Bengals/Jets game pegged boys...
New York Jets @ Cincinatti Bengals
    Line: Cincinatti Bengals -2.5
    Saturday, January 9, 2010
    4:30 PM (NBC)

Let me just start this off by saying that this line is wrong, should be Bengals by 6. Taking in the typical 3 points for home field advantage we are saying the Jets are the better football team here? Really? Lets examine this New York Jets season. They opened the season on a hot streak and ran their record to 3-0 against the Texans, Patriots, and Titans. But since then they are 6-7. Lets see who they played in that stretch. Here are the losses: @ New Orleans, @ Miami, vs Buffalo, vs Miami, vs Jacksonville, @ New England, and vs Atlanta. 2 Playoff teams in there. Now look who they beat to get here: @ Oakland, vs Panthers, @ Buffalo, @ Tampa Bay and then the Colts and Bengals who both baisically threw the game. The Jets don't deserve to be here, and they will be bounced out quick in my opinion.

The Jets offense is just simply too one dimensional. The running game is great but Mark Sanchez in my opinion is horrendous. Sanchez threw for 250+ yards just twice, under 200 yards 11 times, under 150 yards 7 times, and under 110 yards 3 times. Kind of pathetic passing numbers there. His 12 touchdowns to 20 interceptions really doesn't say much more. People say Sanchez is bad when it is cold, I want to see how much truth that has in it because I have never seen stats on it. So here it is, in games 55 degrees and lower here is the stat line:

    7 games
    80/160 (50% Completion Pct)
    1,014 yards (145 yards/game)
    4 touchdowns
    15 interceptions

Looks like the USC grad isn't a big fan of playing in cold weather. So what will the weather be like Saturday? 21 degrees and a chance of snow. So why are the Bengals getting no credit? Could it be because of the lack of interest they have showed in recent contests? Well, honestly, I think that has a lot to do with their situation. You deal with your defensive coordinators wife passing away, your wide receiver passing away, playing mostly inferior opponents, and having the AFC North virtually locked up since Week 10. How interested would you be in playing the Browns, Raiders, Lions, Chiefs, and Jets?

This Bengals team hasn't gotten credit all year and it is time they really got some. You think their 10-6 record is because of a cupcake schedule? Not so, look what they did against quality opponents this year. Too lazy to look it up? Fine, they lost to the Broncos who went on to start 6-0. Remember how they lost that game? Thats right the Brandon Stokely tip drill for 85 yards. They win @ Green Bay, vs Pittsburgh, @ Baltimore, vs Baltimore, @ Pittsburgh, lose to Houston, @ Minnesota, and @ Chargers (by just 3 points). They have played well against good teams in a majority of games throw out the Houston and Vikings game.
So I haven't addressed this yet, last weeks game against the Jets. Why do you play your gameplan when there is a high possibility your playing the same team next week? They ran a very simple, vanilla game plan. I don't hold any stock in Carson going 1/11 or anything else that comes out of that game.

Now, the key match up that is going to decide this game is whether or not the Jets can run the ball on the Bengals. If they want to win this game they will need to have a huge day running the ball. But, consider this, the Bengals are giving up just 79.9 rushing yards per game at home this year. That is a very low number over the course of 8 games. If the Jets keep getting caught in 2nd and 8 or 3rd and 7 the ball is going to be in the hands of a rookie QB, on the road, who doesn't play well on the road or in the cold, and his touchdown/interception ratio is 12/20. Good luck with that Jets backers.

The Bengals know the Jets gameplan, pound the rock. They want it out of Mark Sanchez's hands as often as possible. So on first and second down don't be surprised to see the Bengals put 8 in the box and run blitz the hell out of the Jets. It is inevitable. So you say won't the Jets throw the ball once everyone comes up? Well, I trust Leon Hall and Johnathen Joseph a lot. Two very good corners there and all they have to do is match up with Cotchery and Edwards?

I have to admit the Jets concern me when they are on defense, that is the strength of their game. Ranked #1 in the league and points are hard to come by when going up against this team but they do give up points and they do give up big runs occassionally. Just look what Maurice Jones-Drew did to that defense. That game was about a month ago but he made that Jets defense look silly. Chad Ochocinco has the toughest corner in the league to go against and might be stranded on Revis island all day but the Bengals have the capability to spread the ball. They have Laverneus Coles who is past his prime but still a capable WR and when they put Bernard Scott or Brian Leonard in the backfield they have a receiving threat coming out of the backfield. Cedric Benson coming in on fresh legs could get that running game going and if he does this game won't be close.
I think this will be a nasty game but honestly everything here points to the Bengals being the play. This game is going to be won on field position and with Mark Sanchez good for a pick or two I really like the Bengals. Don't think the Jets will move the ball much if the Bengals defense can take that running game away early.
    Bengals 17, Jets 6

Playing Bengals -2.5 to win 3 Units boys.

You seem to be in the same boat as most. I don't get it. The Jets aren't good. Good luck this weekend.
