Situations like yesterday bring out the worst in all of us. I am guilty of losing focus to the bigger picture and focusing on the portion that inflames me instead.

Yesterday was an exercise in perspective. A word is a word but some words create emotions far more than others. Robyn ond some others continued to point out hypocrisies with allow certain things and not others. I can only speak for myself but I was guilty of not even caring about the big picture once I saw some of the responses to the word itself.

The simple truth is that word or any other word should not have to be banned. Sensative issues should be dealt with in an educated adult oriented way. Not likely that will happen in places like this though. In a perfect world people would treat others with respect and truly intended jokes would be taken as such and not out of context.

I am upset with myself for my focus on racism and not the big picture of yesterday.

I wouldn't call it racism but rather discrimination, which exists throughout all life forms. One would think that with the evolution of the human race, we would have been able to move past this. But alas, we are merely animals, collectively incapable of tolerance.

As long as people continue fanning the flames of hatred, e.g., SBR John's provocative discussion of the "n" word, human beings will never embrace their differences.

Yesterday was an exercise in power.

This was never about the "n word" for any of us that got banned. I don't think I should have to point out that I'm about the last person on this board who should be accused of racism. I got banned for using the word "niggardly" in correct context and in the "unmoderated" Private Zone.

At SBR we are all one color, mostly in the RED, and all trying to be in the BLACK. I hope to be black this year

If most here would ever have the opportunity to fight along side our countries brothers and sisters in arms, color and racism is out the window and it would give you a different perspective than you might not of had before.
