Well I saw another poster start a thread stating he will post all of his 2010 plays in one thread. Not trying to steal his thunder but I think that is a great idea and a good place for me to keep accurate records throughout the year as I am most likely too lazy to do it on my own for more then a week or two. Atleast, I will feel a little ounce of responsibility to update my records and track my progress. I really don't know at this time if I am a winning gambler, this thread should tell me. I feel I am, but we all remember the wins much more then the losses. If you don't like the idea of this thread, fear not, odds are this will fade into obscurity in due time.
Going to change up my unit sizing. In previous posts I was using smaller units, I am going to switch my units to fit my betting better and go with $250=1 Unit
January 1, 2010 Plays (Day 1)
Auburn -7 (-120) to win 1 Unit
Here we have an SEC team going up against a Big Ten team, one of my favorite conference situations to bet on the SEC squad. Auburn was really low on my radar to start the year but as the weeks progressed and I had a chance to watch this team play it was clear I had them misjudged. They started off 5-0 with wins @ Tennesee, vs West Virginia, and vs Mississippi State but what was the most impressive to me is how they were winning these games. They weren't winning with great defense, but rather great offense, and yes, they did get beat up when they got deeper into SEC play but they held their own with Bama, Georgia, and a few others and even beat a ranked Ole Miss team. Northwestern doesn't impress me, much like all the other Big Ten teams, Auburn has seen much stingier defenses then the defense Northwestern brings to the table, and I think Auburn will roll tomorrow.
Auburn 34, Northwestern 20
LSU +2.5 (-122) to win 2 Units
LSU 1st Quarter +0.5 (-144) to win 1 Unit
I am simply in awe of this line. Penn State has not shown me anything this year, and I mean anything. Penn State has gone from a feared program to now being more interested in scheduling out of conference cupcakes to build Joe Pa's win number up and settle for two tough Big Ten games per year (which they proceeded to lose this year). Check out the out of conference schedule: Syracuse, Akron, Temple, and Eastern Illinois. On top of that they don't even have the guts to go on the road and beat those teams. LSU is battle tested, a nice win to open the season @ Washington, wins @ Missisippis State and @ Georgia, a win over Auburn, and a win over Arkansas. The 3 losses? Three hard fought games against Alabama, Florida, and Ole Miss. LSU's lack of offense may keep this one close for a while but eventually they will be able to break free and really put this game away.
LSU 27, Penn State 9
West Virginia -2.5 (-108) to win 2 Units
Honestly, does Florida State belong in this bowl? If you answer yes then you need to pick a different sport to wager on. The only reason they get this game is because of the storyline of Bobby Bowden coaching his last game. So what is Florida State really made of? Let's check their record against bowl opponents. 1 win, 6 losses to bowl opponents. The one win was @ BYU. The bowl opponents, Miami, South Florida, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Florida. Yes, the Noles may come out and leave it all on the line for Coach Bowden, but WVU has played very well this year and deserves this game and bowl win much more then FSU. I think Jarret Brown and Noel Devine cause enough match up problems with Florida State to carry WVU to a win.
WVU 26, FSU 17
Oregon -4 (-102) to win 2 Units
Got to love the Ducks here. Big Ten will show up tomorrow for their annual Rose Bowl whipping. Ohio State still doesn't know how to win a big game and at this point Pryor is relying more on his hype then his ability. Seriously, they made this guy out to be a Heisman caliber guy but I haven't seen it. Don't think a slower Ohio State defense is built to stop a speedy Duck attack with James and Masoli. Ducks really showed a lot this year. 2 losses, Stanford and Boise and after that they beat all comers. 6-2 against bowl teams and really scheduled a very tough out of conference schedule which I think made this team much better. Oregon rolls.
Oregon 38, Ohio State 21
Cincinatti +13 (-110) to win 1 Unit
Really guys? How can I pass up an undefeated team getting 13. Yes, the coach left but from all the comments I heard they feel like they have more to prove rather then being down on themselves. Florida also has coaching issues and really Florida wasn't the powerhouse they were supposed to be. They were 3-6 against a 13 point spread against BCS teams, I think Cincinatti can hang right with Florida, and this line is inflated based on name value of Florida.
Florida 28, Cincinatti 27
