Matt- I read the book, so that might have figured into not buying into much terror/suspense. Fargo on the other hand, I actually got, would have been in my last decade top 10.

#72I don't know if this qualifies as a confession or what . . .
But as I looked through my imdb ratings and listed all the movies I had rated highest for the decade, most of the Harry Potter movies were there. None of them made the final 10 but they were at least in the debate.
I thought those movies were very well done and, as a block, should be considered among the film-making highlights of the decade.Comment -

#73Too hard naming movies, but naming my favorite scene from a movie in this decade is easy.
In 'Atonement' the single shot 5 1/2 minute scene on the French beach where the defeated British soldiers had retreated, brilliantly captures the madness and desperation of the moment. It is one of the most beautifully depressing things I've ever seen.
Can't find video of it anywhere, but a few pictures. What a great movie.

#74How about 49-Up (2005) maybe the last of the 'Up' series. Did you guys see any of those? Some of those kids turned into amazing people.
Got to check out some of the flicks suggested here...Comment -

#77Originally posted by dogcityMothman Prophesies...ya...count me in too. Surprised me to learn the movie was (loosely) based on a true story.
For documentaries how about 'The Fog of War' featuring Robert MacNamara's frank recounting of some very pivotal (and scary) moments in modern American history. Also, 'Man on Wire' about tightrope walker Philippe Petit's World Trade Center feat...incredible...Dog, nice contributions... I forgot Man on Wire, that was very interesting.Originally posted by dogcityHow about 49-Up (2005) maybe the last of the 'Up' series. Did you guys see any of those? And psyched you mentioned the Up series -- taken together, I would classify that whole project as in my Top 10 films of all time. Nothing more poignant than watching actual lives unfold before your eyes like a time-lapse of a flower!!!
Mudcat, good list of docs -- I've seen several and others are on my Netflix. Young at Heart looks awesome. Born into Brothels was rough but very good.
Cougar, I've got Synecdoche in my DVR to watch -- glad you recommend it.Comment -
