Why is the SBR bash held in August?
I'm not being a sarcastic pile I'm just curious.

Is it because room rates at the Nugget are cheapest then? If yes, how much cheaper is the Nugget in August than it is in say May or October when the weather is considerably better?

Also, is there a Handicapping contest held at the bash? Could be fun to hang with the guys in the book all day yelling at the TV's. Some type of casual unit contest could be kind of cool.

Pair of 5's and I were discussing this today at Starbucks.

The weather was nice in August. We spent 99% of the time indoors and it was always 70 degrees.

It was 100 degrees but it felt like 85 here in Atlanta because of the low humidity. If you are a player the weather is not going to stop you from getting the ladies.

            Not a bad idea.

Second week of October = Great weather and MLB Division Series.

I'm guessing the room rates are dirt cheap in middle to late August when it's slow in Vegas. Plus a shitload of degenerate gamblers coming in with money to burn during the slow time is a good business decision for the Golden Nugget.

I hear what you're sayin BestPlay but if the Nugget is $59 a night in August, what is it in May? Maybe $79?

But point taken about a large flock of degens coming in during a slow time.

It's a very strange decision, late August is like 90 everywhere and 120 in Vegas so its like goin from baking hot across the country to surface of the sun temperatures in Vegas, goin to Vegas in like late Feb/early March would be ideal, right before March madness and freezing everywhere but 75 in Vegas

It's so John can guarantee a win in the golf tournament. He spends the entire summer in a steam room so when it comes to the 120 degree heat of the golf course, everyone else starts dropping like flies by the 5th hole and he cleans up.
