HBO Gumbel show interviewing dad &handicapped son tag teaming in biathalons.
It's Real Sports on HBO and this week one of the features was this guy pushing 60 from Boston and his kid who's severly handicapped participating together in these iron man biathalon dealies around the country. It's a full marathon, swimming a marathon distance and riding a bike something like 80 miles in one day.

The son sort of looked like Jeff Garcia and was shrunken and contorted in a permanent fetal position and couldn't speak. The son had a high mental capacity but it was like his dad was giving him a snow job by saying he was a contributing factor as a dual particapant in these events.I could see stroking the guys ego like that if he was mentally challenged but for god sake they both knew the kid was just being used as a weight. It would be like the jockey thanking the saddle weights for winning a race. The old man trained for the events with a flour or cement sack when the kid was in school during the day.

Then the father after doing these events for a few years had a heart attack but rehabbed and got right back into the sport. He said that by being in good shape from the biathalons it saved his life because he was strong and healthy to overcome a heart attack.Hmmmm,na,it was the sport that caused the heart attack in my opinion.

This guy with a snow job attitude like that should be running for president.

Saw the story for the second time when they updated it again in the most recent show. Very moving.

Indeed, LF, a very nice story. Read a bit about them a couple of weeks ago when there were some stories peppered about the web around Fathers Day.

Didn't Johnny Knoxville star in a movie that had something to do with this story?
