Decision is so awful I had to start a second thread
Benching Manning and conceding this game is the WORST DECISION BY AN NFL COACH this decade.
Sorry to overpost, but this is just disgusting.

and what if he left Manning in and he blows out a knee in a meaningless game.
costing them the season.
would that be a worse decision?

You can't coach like that!! So why doesn't Manning come out in every game then after they get a lead? You can't coach scared, players play, that's what they're getting paid for. I GUARANTEE every single guy in that locker room is furious at the coach right now. They work all year and have a chance to do something special, and the coach concedes a game and spoils it for all of them. Might even lose his team. Well, Manning's the coach anyway. But Manning is pissed right now.

Puting the team and a shot at a championship ahead of the bets people made? Say it ain't so.

I can't think of a better way of losing the respect of your veteran players.

Keyboarding, I had no bet on this game... and I think most of the people on this board who agree that this decision was SH-T are in the same boat. Who cares about winning a bet on this game? If you're a sports fan and you love football, this just makes you nauseous. Conceding a game like that when your guys have battled all year and are close to something monumental and never-before-achieved is disgusting.

I agree with the OP. Worst decision this decade. And I had no bet on it either.

You can't bench people when you're undefeated. That was disgusting.

If they played the backups from the start, I could understand it. But to play them 2 1/2 quarters and give up the game? Terrible decision.

I dont like the Colts, but this coach is a dumbass who doesnt get it like all the others who sit their players with weeks to go... they have a bye week after the finale. Rest them then, you have a chance at perfection... as a coach to decide, its completely a selfish and conservative play. Look at Titans last year, rest players and get shut out last week, get bye, and have lost momentum and lack ball control after getting hit. I dont like resting players unless big lead. Watch the COlts... wont play the starters next week, and lose 2nd round of playoffs.

NO. I'm still nauseous over this decision and, as mentioned earlier, I'm a PATS fan!
Anyway, I only started two. Can't comment on the other 15.

That's why the first half colts was the play! I agree that it's inexcusable to throw away a chance at 16-0 without a good reason! It's sick and sad for the game even though I stayed away from second half.

Yeah, I had more to post in here tonight, but gonna take the rest of it off to make sure I don't get tendonitis... even though what I had to say would have potentially changed all your lives. Oh well. Time to watch TV then.

I like when teams that do that lose in their first playoff game. Many teams have won the Super Bowl but how many have gone undefeated?
These people talk about gambling posing a risk to the integrity of the game. Ha

Maybe Peyton felt bad about the drubbing Eli had gotten from Carolina and the mental stress forced him to leave the game? Yeah, maybe.

We all knew this anyway, but still worth posting:
Colts results after a first-round bye (Manning era):
1999 - Lost to the TEN Titans 19-16 in Indy.
2005 - Lost to the PIT Steelers 21-18 in Indy.
2007 - Lost to the SD Chargers 28-24 in Indy.
2009 - ?????????????????????????????????????
