I know,I sound like the grinch that hates Christmas here on this one.Their hearts are probably in the right place but who in the sam hell would eat at one of these communal free holiday dinners that's like a leapor colony of huddled masses.Old geezers spewing flem 40 feet,tikes crapping their pants,everyone smelling of pee,fights breaking out,STD blisters popping and old ladies with moles on their faces with grey hair growing out of them preparing the food.My god,if that's not incentive to go out and not give a crap who you scam to make a living,what is?I would swallow my pride and take an Obama makework stimulus job before I would resort to having to eat a communal dinner.A box of Little Debbies is $1.29 and 2 boxes of generic mac and cheese are 80 cents so for around $2 you can stay home and eat.They are hauling these people 20 miles round trip in planes,trains and automobiles to get to these dinners.

I hope you need help someday as my wife and I did when we went to a Thanksgiving dinner given by a religious group from various parts of the country who came to New Orleans to help us get thru the very trying time following hurricane Katrina.
Maybe you should volunteer sometime and derive some of the joy one gets from helping others.

you get about a $5 meal actually, but most of the people across the table look like betshlong. Best to bring a plastic bag, toss all the food in and leave. Go eat it down the street on a wall. If your barreled in bad, you can go in and just get a free loaf of bread.

I've found.. well my brother told me...
if you just go and stand in front of a restaurant, fast food or whatever, and ask for pennies to save up and get a meal... someone will give you $5 probably within 2 minutes (but you have to look hungry).

I work as a chef, and the place I worked at 2 years ago put one of these dinners on. I can tell you the food was not crap, I put the same amount of care into the food as I do for paying customers.
But I have never eating at one, other than the time when I cooked the food.
