The lamp on my HDTV just died.
Really terrible timing considering there is no way I get this fixed before Saturday.

But hey, it's Christmas. If this is my biggest problem, I'm doing OK.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

    Still really bad timing.

I've had the thing just over 4 years (you can read that as barely out of warranty). It's is on all this time so I've had a good run with it. Just shitty timing.

If you have good credit you should be able to get a bomb ass TV for almost nothing down and hardly shit a month. After the 1st of January prices on HDTV's drop dramatically as well cause the new shit comes out spring/end of summer time.

You are four and a half years too late with this advice.

Actually 4.5 years ago you might of done the right thing, 720p was dog shit, I have never seen one work right no matter what HDMI cable was used or what box it was hooked up to, they all would pixelate and ghost images, now a days that 1080p shit hooked up right is the way to go, plasma or lcd, And dont let anyone tell you lcd is better than plasma, each has its own advantages its all about where you are putting the TV and what you are using it for.

I've actually been pretty happy with the unit. Picture is great and the lamp has worked for a long time. The lamps die. It happens.

I'm likely to try to get a replacement lamp on Saturday and install it myself. I've looked at a couple of tutorials on the internet and it doesn't seem that difficult. If I can get two years out of the next one, I'll be ok.

Yeah I've got a 60" DLP that I love. I am not looking forward to replacing a bulb when it goes, but the picture rocks, and I love the size of the screen. I wouldn't change a thing.

Alright boys. I'm back and better than ever. Got my new bulb this morning and installed it just before kickoff of the bowl game.

For what it's worth, I had no idea how dim the old lamp had become. The picture now really pops.
