Risk vs. To win vs. Base
Which of these do you prefer and why?

    Risk:
Bet the same amount of every game
    ex: $100 on -1000 gets you $10 and $100 on +1000 gets you $1000

    To win:
Try to win a certain amount with each bet
    ex: $1000 on -1000 to win $100 and $10 on +1000 to win $100

    Base:
To win with favorites and Risk with underdogs
    ex: $1000 on -1000 to win $100 and $100 on +1000 to win $1000

    Lets get some thoughts down!

To Win" is the superior flat staking strategy. Favorites are more likely to win, so you should naturally risk more on them to increase your expected growth.

There is no one correct answer. The most important thing in determining the size of a wager that you make is the comfort level of the player. I vary my strategies depending on what I am playing. Normally, I will wager the same amount on most sporting events, but when I am playing Blackjack, I always alter my wagers depending on how the cards and my luck is running. When wagering on horses, I use a combination of both. Poker is an entirely different animal, because being able to read your opponent and learning his style of play is just as important as the cards you are dealt. The important thing to remember is that you must be comfortable with your wager. If you are going to worry over the size of a wager, you will probably lose it because you are allowing a factor into the equation that has absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the game or hand, influence your decision.

In my opinion I think "to win" is the best as I don't think that a +1000 dog should receive as much money as a +120 using base, or a -500 if risking the same amount.

          Risk amount is the "unit".
