Callipari Might Be Most Overated Coach Of All Times
    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He should of gone like 70-2 the last few years with all this talent at Memphis

    Guys excelling in the pros

He is a horrible in game coach and all they do is play street ball and of course you cannot win that way in a close tight game and against good well coached teams.

Calipari is not a great coach. Simply because he don't build programs he build one year players and put them in the draft. Coach K, Coah Self, and Roy Williams have programs with 4 year players and it pays off!

I met him downtown Memphis one time. He's an arrogant prick much like when I met Nick Saban.

Lol have you watched Kentucky this year? Guy is a great coach

Hell of a recruiter, that is part of coaching. I'll take talent over good x and o's all day

Also great motivator, i've never met the guy but would run through a brick wall for him

He has no control of players
just tells them to play hard and that is why he cannot win tight games.

Kentucky will struggle to win a title with him. He will bring in one year players and the chemistry will never be there. He might make it to the game but that's it. He have to build a program not a one year stud program like he always does.

I give Kentucky 2 years before Caliperi gets a major infraction. They will lose all there scholarships and end up like Indiana.

You guys got it all wrong.

Do you know why Bobby Knight is not in coaching right now? B/c he can't control the gangbangers and thugs. It's a new generation. Nobody wants to play for a military nut. Kids now are spoiled.. and gangbangers are lazy and want the whole planet. So Knight will never be a big-time winning coach again if he comes back. Ever.

A similar thing is happening to Coach K Big Nose. You can't win w/ the white boys anymore. He needs to get w/ the times. Duke will likely never win another champ. under Coach K. He's going the YMCA white guy route.... and that won't get you the ring.

Coach Cal is just using common sense. I bring the biggest, baddest, most athletic gangbangers.... and I out-gangbang your team. B/c, at the end of the day, it's about who has the horses. And Cal loads up on the gangbanging horses.. and so he wins.

It's like Phil Jackson. W/o Jordan and Shaq/Kobe... how many rings would he have? Zero? But he gets the big-time horses, he gets the big-time results.

                      That's all it is.

                        Look at it this way

Calipari had 2 schools trying to pay him $30 million to coach their team this offseason (Memphis and Kentucky), and maybe more if he quit and said he was a free agent coach

Bobby Knight couldn't get Georgia job even with all of his boys at ESPN lobbying for him

Lots of uninformed guys in the thread, Calipari is a top 5 college coach right now along with Roy Williams, Coach K, and Bill Self, Tom Izzo, Calhoun, etc. Yes I named more than 5 coaches, but those are the upper echelon coaches right now.

Simply because he hasn't wanted any jobs that were offered.

I do understand you went deeper than that, but the truth is because he doesn't choose to coach.

                          Merry Christmas, Guys

You can't talk about overrated college coaches without mentioning Gary Williams and Jim Boeheim. Watch Boeheim coach the end of a close game sometime, it's like he goes unconscious.

He's not overrated. At UMass he won 5 A-10 titles in 8 years and went to the final four. He was named the coach of the year in '96. Memphis won the most games in NCAA history in 2008. They should have won the title but none of the thugs could hit a free throw. You don't do all that without being a good coach. He may be somewhat corrupt but he is a good coach.
