Put a football star or basketball star up against a soccer star. Have them all do a verticle jump, bench press, 40 time, 100 time, shuttle, and other things. It will humble the soccer "star".Comment -

#38Oh, that's why they keep going for 90 minutes, with one break, without the ability to go back and forth between the bench for a breather. Those overweight guys wearing all that protection for five or ten seconds of action at a time, they're the real athletes? Research has shown soccer and basketball players to be the most all round athletes. What do you think is harder? To catch, dribble, or throw a ball with your hands, or to control it with your feet? Ask Steve Nash what he does during the summer, and to what he attributes his great coordination.
Soccer is fun to play, but it is only fun to watch when played at a high level. That's a problem in the US. Plus most of the US public didn't play soccer itself, and therefore can't relate to the degree of difficulty of what they're seeing. The only thing that stands out for a typical US spectator is a bicycle kick.Comment -

#39I like good soccer. I've never been a fan of the USA team because they play hotdog soccer. There will be some great ball played in this Copa with Brasil. Catch a few minutes at a sports bar. Its not the NFL or even close but it is fun.Comment -

#41Get the best 20 black athletes in USA and train them for one year in soccer we are favored over Brazil -190 or so.
Europe has nothing going for them other to kick a ball, usa has everything and tons of sports where we dominate, our athletes spread their sports out instead of the whole country kicking a ball and drinking beer.Comment -

#44Has nothing to do with skin color. I dont see Africa winning every sport and all the gold medals and I believe there are a lot of blacks there.Comment -

#45Johhny put the best soccer players/drunks in the world against the Indy Colts in a football game and the line would be
Indy -56 1/2
Get our best football players and train them for a while in soccer and we beat anyone easy. The Euro guys would run away. Can you imagine the Wash Skins safety from Miami being agressive in a soccer game? They would run away from him.
Terrel Owens would not be stopped, way too strong to handle even on a soccer field and even with lesser skills than the Euro pro soccer players.Comment -

Wasn't just talking about showing commercials on TV, instead suggesting soccer would become more commercially attractive in a broader sense as the years go by. The face of this country is changing, and television, specifically televising sporting events, will change right along with it.Comment -

You can train 50 millons of black athletes for life and can´t get one of these
Only few countries in the world can win at some time to Brazil in soccerComment -

The USA squad that is entering Thursdays Copa America will look nothing like Gold Cup. No Donovan, No Beasly..I think only 3 starters will be playing. Coach is taking his "B" squad. Also look at what group they are in.
Argentina
Colombia
Paraguay
USA
I'll be surprised if they get a win against any of those clubs.
Top two from each group advanceComment -

#52OK thanks for that tid-bit. Although that is not a real strong group is it? Paraguay and Colombia are kind of average if I recall.Comment -

#54... like France for example - they nearly always win against Brazil... or look at the statistics of the 'soccer giant' Norway against Brazil ...
But apart from that I also like the brazilian soccer team a lot, their way to play is the most entertaining of all teams.Comment -

USA does not play well outside of their soil. With USA's weak team they are displaying, the only real chance I think of a win would be vs Colombia. Paraguay was solid in the World Cup. We'll see, hopefully with a new coach we can see some nice surprises.
Since i'm from Argentina I wont be rooting for USAComment -

#56Any good websites in English for the Copa America?
I actually like what I saw from Mexico in the 1H against the US. They controlled the game. They just lost their head in the 2H when the US started to play very physical with a lot of borderline tackling.
Ronaldinho not playing for Brazil, right? Needs the rest.
Argentina fielding its best players, with Messi?Comment -

not that bad of a coverage
Argentina with Messi, Tevez, Riquelme
Brazil without Ronaldinho, Kaka
Be careful with Mexico, they are losing imho their 3 best players Carlos Salcido, Ricardo Osorio, and Pavel Pardo for this tournament. The striker Borgetti got injured in the final yestarday and is doubtful as well as Guardado who had a head collision and had to be hopitalize after the game. That's a weakened Mexico which was already underperforming.Comment
