why not? mayweather is more than willing to submit to this more comprehensive testing of PEDs by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

all the manny nuthuggers just parroting the nonsense coming out of arum's mouth that floyd doesnt want this fight.

floyd just wants to know he is fighting a clean fighter and if manny's clean, take the test, make your money and lose like you know you are going to

            Mayweather camp: Olympic testing non-negotiable

Officials for Floyd Jr. say superfight could fall through if Pacquiao doesn't agree to broader drug testing

            By STEVE CARP
            LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

The megafight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao could be in jeopardy after Pacquiao reportedly refused to have his blood drawn 30 days before their proposed March 13 welterweight title bout.

Mayweather wants Pacquiao to submit to Olympic-style drug testing as outlined by the United States Anti-Doping Agency. Mayweather's father, Floyd Sr., and others in the Mayweather camp have insinuated that Pacquiao's size and strength are not from conventional and natural means.

"This is a legitimate potential dealbreaker," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, which is representing Mayweather in negotiations with Top Rank, Pacquiao's promoter. "I hope it's not Manny saying this, that it's someone in his camp.

"Manny can clear it up if he said it's a miscommunication and that he agrees to the testing. He does that, then we have a fight."

Pacquiao never has flunked a drug test in his 13-year professional career. Still, Mayweather wants Pacquiao to have his blood drawn 30 days before the fight, which would be at the MGM Grand Garden.

"I understand Pacquiao not liking having his blood taken, because frankly I don't know anyone who really does," Mayweather said in a statement. "But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level.

"I have already agreed to the testing, and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same. It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring that night."

Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, said: "We've insisted on this from the beginning. We just want to make sure there is a level playing field.
"There's no compromise on this issue."

Schaefer said under typical Olympic testing, an athlete would be subject to multiple random tests, both through urinalysis and blood testing. In the 21/2-month period leading to the fight, both fighters could be expected to be tested through urinalysis eight to 10 times and for blood five to six times. Schaefer said the blood testing is done because certain banned substances can't be detected through urinalysis.According to Schaefer, he was told by Top Rank president Todd duBoef that Pacquiao was superstitious about having blood drawn so close to a fight.

"Todd told me that Pacquiao has difficulty with taking blood and doesn't want to do it so close to the fight," Schaefer said. "He (Pacquiao) would only agree to have blood drawn before the kick-off news conference and after the fight.

"It is unfortunate to hear this from Manny Pacquiao's representatives, particularly since, as of today, both parties had worked out all other issues related to this fight."

Top Rank spokesman Lee Samuels said neither duBoef nor chairman Bob Arum is commenting on the drug-testing issue, which comes on the heels of the resolution of one of the final sticking points in the negotiations: the site for the fight.

Having the 16,200-seat Grand Garden as the venue is apparently set, as Golden Boy and Top Rank have asked the Nevada Athletic Commission, in its meeting next month, to approve the March 13 date for the MGM. Schaefer said it is up to Pacquiao now.

"I'm assuming he doesn't know what's going on," Schaefer said of Pacquiao, who is in the Philippines. "If, in fact, he refuses to submit, I would have a lot of difficulty in asking any of our fighters to get in the ring with him."

lets see if schaeffer is correct in that manny hasnt himself rejected the idea of getting properly tested or it is just from his camp. bolded what i feel is relevant. if u dont think manny's camp is aware of what tests they can take and pass with the use of masking agents, etc. then you are being naive. if he refuses to this test, it should be clear to anybody with an objective mind that he is using some form of performance enhancing drugs and all his recent successes should be viewed with a skeptical eye.

how bad would it be for cotto to have been cheated twice? first by margarito and his fixed gloves, then by manny and his use of PEDs?

some articles from pedro fernandez of ringtalk (who used to be a huge pro-manny guy) with some very clear and simple points about this whole mess:

                PACQUIAO REFUSES STRICT STEROID TESTS!
December 22nd, 2009 By Pedro Fernandez

BIGGEST FIGHT EVER NOW IN PERIL

San Francisco, CA- To paraphrase a boxing prophet, “Only Egos Could Derail Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather.” That was a fortnight ago. Now it appears that the alleged Steroid use by Manny Pacquiao might kill the 2010 fight! In case you’ve been under a rock, Manny Pacquiao, the king of all boxing, was accused first by Floyd Mayweather Sr., father Of Mayweather Jr., of using Steroids months ago. Then former welterweight champion Kermit Cintron, appearing on “Ring Talk Worldwide,” the longest (25 years) and most entertaining fight show in history, Cintron said there was “no doubt” in his mind that Pacquiao was “using something.”

G.B.P. CZAR SAYS PAC REFUSES STEROID TESTS

Those backing the Filipino phenom Manny Pacquiao, they have spent thousands of hours on the Internet accosting anybody who broaches the subject of Pacquiao and Steroids. Well, according to Richard Schaeffer, the financial wizard that puts away Oscar De La Hoya’s money at Golden Boy Promotions, and who is handling Floyd’s business here, said Tuesday afternoon that Manny has backed out of the “Olympic style testing for steroids.”

THIS SOUNDS LIKE…WELL…PLAIN OLD BULL S*IT!

Although his defenders will try and spin this in some far reaching if not ridiculous manner, Pacquiao was thought to have agreed to Steroid testing as outlined and mandated by the United States Anti Doping Agency. That appears not to be the case as Pacquiao promoter Todd du beof, Top Rank VP, informed Schaeffer that “Pacquiao has difficulty with taking blood and doesn’t want to do it so close to the fight. Pacquiao would only agree to have blood drawn before the kick-off press conference and after the fight. Schaffer continued with his press release. “Pacquiao would not agree to have his blood taken within 30-days of the bout based on the fighter’s superstition of testing so close to a fight.”

                WHICH LAME ASS EXCUSE APPLIES?

First it was superstitions, then an aversion to needles, which excuse applies, if either and or both? This to me sounds as if Pacquiao’s reps are throwing everything they can at the wall of public opinion, this in the hope that something will stick. For Manny or his cronies to use either as an excuse is pure unadulterated bull s*it, especially in light of the Mayweather Sr. and Cintron’s public accusations that they feel Manny has indeed utilized anabolic Steroids/performance enhancing drugs.

TESTING TIMES CRITICAL WITH DESIGNER DRUGS

The US Doping Agency would make unannounced visits of both Mayweather and Pacquiao’s training camps and take both blood and urine samples. If you are going to use Steroids, you need to take them and then stop in order to flush your system at a specific date and time in order to pass a post fight drug test. Look, I had some blood drawn a few weeks ago, and I don’t even look when they do it. With the veins that Manny has in his arms, it’s not like they are going to search hard to tap one for crimson.

PAC SHOOTS HIMSELF BY REFUSING STEROID TESTS!

If Manny continues to not want to adhere the strictest of Steroid tests, then all this does is nix the biggest fight in history, and at the same time leave fair-minded folks with the feeling that Manny Pacquiao, the great fighter who has fought from mini flyweight (108 lbs) to welterweight (147), was just what Mayweather and Cintron claimed, a cheat!

                TATTOOED MANNY: “SCARED OF NEEDLES”
December 23rd, 2009 By Pedro Fernandez

PACQUIAO LEGACY NOW MIRRORING BARRY BONDS?

San Francisco, CA- The stench that permeates the blogosphere this morning is emanating from General Santos City in the Philippines and the lips of boxing’s ‘pound for pound’ king* Manny Pacquiao. The reason I put an asterisk (*) in the prior sentence is that like baseball’s Barry Bonds, Pacquiao is being accused in different circles of taking performance enhancing drugs/Steroids.

EXCUSES SO LAME ARUM MUSTA’ WROTE THEM

The reasoning put forth by Pacquiao for his refusing “Olympic” style drug testing is two fold. Bulls*it Excuse #1: Pacman was “superstitious” regarding blood tests. Bulls*it Excuse #2: Manny is afraid of needles. Did somebody in the office of Top Rank promoter Bob Arum put together this pabulum?

TATTOOS ARE ABOUT HOURS OF NASTY NEEDLES

With his body looking somewhat like a painter’s canvas with tattoos aplenty, Manny was poked and prodded for many hours by a tattoo artist. One of Pacquiao’s big tats would take as much as six to eight hours to design.

NEVADA TESTING METHODS AN INVITATION TO CHEAT?

The Nevada Athletic Commission is the government agency that will oversee the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. They don’t plan on testing anybody until the fight is over! The problem with that is “cycling on and off” Steroids take days to disappear sans masking agents, thus in a three month span Pacquiao could easily cheat and get away with it. Cycle off a Steroid three weeks prior to the fight and you can pass the test with ease.

PAC LOOKING “MORE DIRTY” AS TIME GOES ON

Although they say that this puts the March 13 fight between Mayweather & Pacquiao in peril, in addition I think this refusal to adhere to a system of strict drug testing is essentially Manny Pacquiao thumbing his nose at his faithful followers and boxing fans worldwide.

PAC GUILTY IN COURT OF PUBLIC OPINION?

That’s a question: Is Pacquiao’s refusal to adhere to strict Steroid testing convicting him of Steroid use in the court of public opinion?

                Pedro Fernandez
to think this cheater may have ruined or at least halted some very legit careers out there, whether it be erik morales, cotto, mab, etc.

Again, what's the difference between a blood test 48HRs prior and right after?

Do the illegal substances magically evaporate during the fight and dont show in the post fight test?

A fight of this magnatude I'd wear a big 13 on my trunks and have my cut man hold a black cat. In my opinion Manny is dirty or he wouldnt have a problem with it,or maybe he seen what Floyd did to Big Shows Nose.

                                      Bob Arum:

"We appeased Mayweather by agreeing to a urine analysis at any time, and blood testing before the press conference and after the fight. Mayweather pressed for blood testing even up to the weigh-in. He knew that Manny gets freaked out when his blood gets taken, and feels that it weakens him. This is just harassment and, to me, just signaled that he didn't want the fight."

I don't think it's a "superstition", but just messing up a routine. I still get woozy after I get blood drawn. PBF is doing whatever he can--pre-fight.

Can someone clarify this for me, Is Manny calling off the fight because he doesn't want Olympic testing or is Mayweather canceling the fight because Manny won't take the tests?

bottom line, manny will not agree to the random testing or any blood tests within 30 days of the fight, b/c he'll then be exposed as the fraudulent cheater that he is, so arum and co. are trying to get it out in the public that floyd is trying to get out of the fight when it is the other way around.

LOL at Pacman. Just take the ****ing test.

Brilliant mind games by the Mayweather camp. If he doesn't take the test he might as well flush his legacy down the toilet because Pacman comes out of this looking like a cheat.

manny refuses to do random testing and wants to know exactly when the tests will be done

it couldnt be more obvious the little cheat is using PEDs
