My UPS driver tried to pull a fast one.

I'm standing in my doorway talking to my neighbor at 1pm for about 15 min. The UPS truck pulls up across the street. I'm waiting for a package from Amazon.com. I go into my house and figure if it's here, he'll ring the bell. No ring of the doorbell.

I just went outside and there's my delivery sitting there. (And it's obviously been opened.) I check the tracking number online and it says it was delivered at 1:10pm. He must have gone through it, figured it wasn't worth it and left it back on my doorstep later.

The package probably got opened from being thrown around by all of the package handlers, etc.

He has probably 400 packages on his truck today. If he wanted something there are more obvious high ticket items to steal than an ambiguous Amazon.com box.

I once worked for ups from april 97 until Sept 97 when i went back to school. I unloaded the trucks in the early AM. We would bust open boxes from Trolli, the gummi worm candy people, and say whoops. Then we would open the bags and eat some. Then we would tape them back up. Also, I have seen guys bust open boxes frpm porno places and steal vhs tapes. It seemed like they know what was in a good deal of packages.

They might not lock the doors. They close the cargo gate though and you can't get in to the back to get packages however.

If I find CD's I take them to the music store where they buy used ones for $1 to $4 each if they are rare. You can make good money if you do this daily. Try to sell them in college towns where the used CD stores are good business.

Sometimes I get packages without opening them. I then put a new address on the package and reship it. I really don't care if aunt Jemima gets a fleshlight or a vibrator for Xmas.

This time of year, those drivers are working 10 hour days, making 200+ stops a day. I know, I used to do it back in 2002.
The drivers don't have time to sit at your doorstep and wait for you to finish taking the curlers out of your hair and come sign for your package. If they spent 3 minutes at every door....thats 600 minutes a day..you do the math.
They dont care about your PS3. UPS makes an insane amount of money..they expect to pay claims of theft, but its better than $27//hr labor.

I use to work for ups, and this time of year they hire package runners aka ride alongs, and that person runs the package to the door, if it's down the street up upstairs or what ever while the driver does the usual stuff. It's a very limited backround check and they get some very underqualified people and pay them shit 50 an hour. I bet it was one of them who did it. A guy once asked me "Where does it say what's in the package"

No management tells us not to get signatures, unless the handhelp computer that they carry specificaly prompt for it. They just want that shit off the truck.
I quit, they ran me to the ground.

I remember one year I was so tired I took my 2 weeks vacation and ran off to South America (Chile) and layed on the beach

My back was so messed up, I asked a local brown girl to help me get up off the sand. My back locked up and I couldnt move.

I quit 6 months after that before I did any real damage. Mind you I was 23 years old, not some old douche.
