I have never known anyone who has been through G.A. or anyof those other support groups for addicts of any sort, but if they are telling you that you are powerless over the addiction, what a cop-out!

Why would you afford someone who has an addiction an easy out? You are powerless because you choose to be a weak fck. Why don't they tell these people that they have a problem and the problem isn't going away until they make the change. telling them they are powerless is giving them a crutch to always fall back on. Start drinking again, "oh it's not my fault, it's a sickness that I have not control over." Gamble the house away, " yeah it truely sucks but it's not my fault, I have no control over this sickness."

Is that really what they tell you? Do they really tell these people that it's just an illness or a sickness and alone they have no power over it?

I'm a fat fck but it's not a sickness. My fat ass ate the Dorito's but I always had the power to close the friggin bag. I have been over my head in debt due to gambling before but it wasn't anyones fault but my own and I was never not in control, I chose to ignore common sense and gamble more.

I understand people need help and support groups are needed for some, but supporting someone doesn't mean you have to lesson their responsibility for their actions.

Wal66---It is much easier to hand your problems over to someone or something else and in turn you begin the corrective process of moving away from oneself---the underlying root of ALL addictions-To Satisfy oneself over everything and everyone else.
