Anyone ever ingest kava kava root?

I saw a note on it on Spike's "Manswers". Prelim research - it looks better for you than booze, and does somesimilar effects. Oh - and it is legal.

Anyone ever used this?

i give this stuff to my dog to relax her on airplane flights.
its just a safe mild sedative.

Many Polynesian cultures use it to relax. It tastes horrible, too. Really bad for your liver if you use it too often as well.

Reminds me of how you feel when you take xanax.

i used it. It taste like dirt but if you get the good stuff (from Fiji) once it touch your month it gets numb. it does relax you but you can also puke if you have to much. The only bad thing for me, I work construction and if you drink that night before you'll feel like and if you drink water it reactivates the kava that's in your system

Like rossta4i said ... I had it in Fiji a number of times - tastes like dirt, and numbs your body. Drink enough of it and you will find it hard to move, whole body goes numb. I knew a guy who pissed himself because of it, too numb to make to the bathroom

I used the stuff sold in capsules about 8 years ago. Shortly after they were banned for sale in Canada (Liver toxicity was the reason given I think). It can be imported for personal use but I didn't want to bother having the stuff mailed from the US. Don't know if the ban has been lifted.

I found the stuff to be relaxing. Took it at night to get a better sleep.

Tried it twice. It's decent, but nothing special about it. Similar to booze or benzodiazepines. There are probably safer gaba-agonists around, but very few them are unregulated. Alcohol from store or benzos from doctor are the most common and easiest to get.

I've tried most major benzodiazepines, but in my experience GHB or GBL (basically a pro-drug of GHB) is the most euphoric and pro-sexual out of this class of drugs by far. It has been classified as medicine and has been illegal to sell here for a quite few years now. It's probably controlled in the USA as well, would be surprised if not. GBL can still be bought in some countries, like the UK, as paint stripper and cleaning agent/solvent.
