Is there incentive for a veteran long term NFL player to jump to the CFL at the end
I live near the Canadian border so I get all the CFL games and it's amazing how many NFL players that ran their course in the NFL making big money go to Canada to make 125K a year to get their brains and knees beat to hell. Why on earth would a guy that has played 6to10 years that should have a few million salted away go to Canada? It's not like you will ever make it back to the NFL where you are just trying to stay in playing shape until the next season when some team in the NFL needs you.Usually you are so depleted that you are like a tube of toothpaste where you have to be squeezed with 1000 pounds of pressure to get one more tooth brush full of paste enough for one brushing.

Shawn King the journeyman NFL quarterback is the latest to go north joining the Hamilton Tiger Cats.I'll bet the guy squandered about 10 mill and is broke?

Have you ever considered that some players love playing football and they choose to go North because they want to prolong their careers?

Have you ever considered that these players have enough money saved up and rather then sit at home and do nothing at the age of 36 they would rather continue to play competitive football?

Have you ever considered that they might just believe they can make a comeback?

Of course the only thing you can consider are you black stereotypes about squandering money and what not.....really you contribute nothing to this forum other than irrelevant and racist social commentary disguised as sports talk? A simple thread search would reveal that your threads and posts are entirely meaningless and fraught with just venom toward African-Americans and other minority groups.

Not sure why SBR tolerates your stupidity...

King never made much money. 10 mill? If you have no other job skills than what these guys grew up with , 125K will pay the bills. Beats flippin burgers. Milk it .

Many of stud quarterbacks couldn't make the grade in Canada.

I have seen dozens of NCAA and NFL proven or half proven quarterbacks bomb out misserabally in Canada mostly because they didn't have the arm strength to throw on the extra big playing field up there. There is a prototypical Canadian league QB and that's usually an import ''U.S.A''college black quarterback that has a canon for an arm and can run but who lacks certain aspects of reading the defense and being on the same page as an NFL coach. In other words they are like Dante Culpepper and show up late at practice and leave early.Funny Dante isn't up in Canada trying to crack a lineup as a 3rd string backup.Usually an NFL team wants to convert these guys to defensive backs or receivers and they want to try to be a QB so they head to Canada.Go to any CFL training camp and you will see 5 guys vying for the QB positions and the guys that get cut were studs at Tennessee on national champion teams like Tee Martin etc.In the last 10 years there have been a few Notre Dame quarterbacks that were starters that got cut almost every year by a few different teams. You have to be pretty darn good to make it as a qb up there. Is Eric Crouch still trying to make it as a QB in Canada?hehe!

search andre rison..he's going bankrupt...not saying that all guys have $ problems, but a lot of these guys spend it nearly as fast as they make it...expensive gifts for family and friends, lavious vacations, buying a ton of property (taxes can get costly)...then the paycheck stops and they can't continue their lifestyle...and they go broke...
