Apparently he didn't turn his life around as much as he made it look like.
Regardless, RIP.

Yeah..I was shocked too although I cant say I did not expect this after seeing last nights news..terrible shit

No, stuff like this happens when you jump onto a moving vehicle.
JJ, just because every black person you've met has no regard for your life does not mean they like to kill. I have no regard for your life and am white and generally non-violent.

You believe in it, you are loyal to it, would defend it, and yet have no proof of it, other than that, at one point or another, you chose to believe in it. Self-hypnosis. What if there were a snapping of fingers that broke the hypnosis?

I wonder if he jumped out from shotgun.
He seemed to be a pretty crazy guy. He got 'Injured' from the Bengals. Maybe his career was over. I mean if the Bengals 'injure' you and your a bad guy, what team will take you. His marriage was falling through and he jumped.
Dam he was so young. Bless his family through all of this.

He had a very full life
Off-the-field problems
From his college days at West Virginia University, Henry had a checkered off-field reputation. During his sophomore season, he was ejected from a game at Rutgers University due to multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and was suspended for the season finale against the University of Pittsburgh. His former Mountaineers coach, Rich Rodriguez, stated that he was "an embarrassment to himself and the program" for his conduct.[16]
On December 15, 2005, Henry was pulled over in northern Kentucky for speeding. During a search, marijuana was found in his shoes. He was also driving without a valid driver's license or valid insurance.[17] He pleaded guilty and avoided a jail sentence.
One month later, on January 30, 2006 he was arrested in Orlando, Florida for multiple gun charges including concealment and aggravated assault with a firearm.[18] He was reported to have been wearing his #15 Bengals jersey at the time of his arrest. He pleaded guilty to this charge and avoided jail time.
On April 29, Henry allowed three underage females to consume alcohol at a hotel in Covington, Kentucky.[19] One of the three, an 18-year-old woman, accused Henry of sexually assaulting her; she later retracted her story and was charged with filing a false police report.[20] On January 25, 2007, Henry pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor violation of a city ordinance commonly referred to as a "keg law." He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with all but two of those days being suspended.[19]
He was pulled over on Interstate 275 in Ohio on June 3 at 1:18 A.M. by Ohio Highway Patrol trooper Michael Shimko for surmised drunk driving. He voluntarily submitted to a breathalyzer test at 2:06 A.M. at the Milford Police Department and registered a .092 blood-alcohol level, .012 above the level permitted in the state of Ohio.[21]
On October 6, he was suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policies. NFL policies forbade Henry from taking part in practices, however, he was allowed to attend any team meetings. Henry missed the Bengals' October 15, 2006 game at Tampa Bay and their October 22, 2006 home game versus Carolina.[22]
The following April, Henry was suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 NFL season for violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy.[10][16] His suspension on the 10th came with a stern warning that future misconduct may result in the end of his career with the NFL. Henry was given permission by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to begin practicing fully.[23] His suspension was lifted and he played in the November 11, 2007 game versus the Baltimore Ravens, amassing 4 catches for 99 yards.
Henry allegedly assaulted a valet attendant at Newport on the Levee in Newport, Kentucky on November 6, 2007.[24] He was arrested for a second time in Orlando on December 3 for violating his probation he was on from a January 30, 2006 arrest. On February 21, 2008, he was found not guilty.
On March 31, 2008, Henry was alleged to have punched a man named Gregory Meyer, 18, and thrown a beer bottle through the window of his car. Henry claimed it was a case of mistaken identity and also that he thought it was somebody else that owed him money.[25] Henry was waived by the Bengals a day after this arrest and was then forced to serve a house arrest sentence.

On Turning his Life Around
Death
On December 16, 2009, Henry was involved in a car accident in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he sustained life-threatening injuries. Charlotte police stated that Henry fell out the back of his fiancee's moving truck while engaging in a domestic dispute with her.[26][27] On December 17, 2009, Charlotte police announced that Henry had died at 6:36 a.m. ET. No cause of death was immediately released.[28]
addendum: Probably from falling off the back of the truck

If I was a pro athelete, I'd probably be at clubs all night wearing my jersey and getting in confrontations involving weapons too. Why not??
looks definitely the fiancee is going to get charged, witnesses said they heard him screaming asking her to stop the car then saying he'd jump and kill himself if she didn't.

I wonder if he got whacked. I mean the courts and law back there hated the guy. They would get real personal in the court hearings and really lay into him. Obviously, the NFL or the Bengals could easily put up the money to make this happen. Of course, the N.C. fuzz would take a payout to cover it all up. Its just wierd how this happened ayer, but the packaged story doesn't come out till today.

I have ZERO sympathy for this guy.

1st and Ten... After reading your descriptions of his off field troubles, I think most of them were pretty petty bullshit. Marijuana possession, hell who hasn't had marijuana in their possession before. He didn't have his drivers license or insurance "ON" him. Hell many of us have left the house without our wallet before too. Underage drinking? Sex with 18 year old woman? Who the hell hasn't done that. Most of us were drinking before 18 and having sex as well. He was 22/23 at the time. That's not a big difference being with a grown woman of 18. I don't condone drunk driving but he wouldn't be the first person arrested for that.
Gun charges? This country was made on the right to bare arms. Many of these players are "marks" for the real thugs to target. If I was him, I would have a concealed gun at all times. Then a guy says that Henry hit him. Heck many people target athletes and actors to try and extort money. Who knows what that was about. Look, he obviously had a checkered past but none of what you wrote would make me believe the guy should have died. Sad situation for all involved and I can only hope his family will find peace in the upcoming weeks. It's going to be tough on his kids and the fiancee.

I hear ya MAc4Lyfe. I never suggested the guy should have died but you get out of life what you give. That guy gave a lot of people misery right up until his death. I hope he is able to rest in peace because he didn't have any of it during his life despite being given multiple chances.

I don't know what the exact number is, but I'd guess 99 percent of all the people in this country go through their entire lives and never see the inside of a jail cell. If there's anything tragic about this case, it's that he had every chance to go through life with few real hardships and he apparently never recognized that.

It's a bummer, BUT not the tragedy that many of you think and believe it is. When this kind of person gets this kind of attention and RIP's he is getting from us all, then we are in a very sad place. We don't blink an eye when we change the channel when little starving kids show up on our tv screens, yet Chris Henry is lauded by thousands here on the web. I mourn the lose of our humanity.
