A big bankroll is a must. However, 100k is not essential. You can start it with a 20k as well but 50k would be much safer.
Let's say your bankroll is 50k. In the end of year, you should be able to triple your bankroll. It makes 100k net profit. Add some of this 100k to your bankroll and put the rest to your bank for your living expenses. You'll spend this money whole year for all your needs. That's it!

Making a living by sports betting is possible but people doing it are very rare.

Wouldn't they have more time to post on frivolities?

How fast do sportsbooks kick players out or significantly slash their wager limits over their winning?

i dont care who you fade. fading is the best way to make money. 90% of all gamblers lose money. fading is better than handicapping

Surprised that noone has said it yet. Guess I am one of the very few sharps. You cannot plan to consistently pick winners (unless you have inside info) as a strategy to building your wealth so you have to focus on getting the very best number available on the market for the game you like. If you consistently get the very best number, and have a disciplined approach to money management, you can actually make money. Don't delude yourself into thinking you can just pick winners and bet big on them. This might work for a few games but eventually you will get buried as there could be information you do not have or a fix could be in.

Cliff notes: hit the best numbers.

The book gets +110 and you get -110 on the fades. That is why the book wins, and 90% (I think it should be more than 90%) of gamblers lose money like you said.
