Thousands of dollars were taken in an armored truck robbery outside the Palace Station casino this morning. Police say it happened just after 9 a.m., when the driver of the truck was robbed at gunpoint as he was leaving the casino. The suspect reportedly took four bags of money. Police originally thought more than a million dollars was stolen, but a Station Casinos spokesperson later said the actual amount was $36,000. Nobody was injured, but the suspect took off with a driver in a getaway car. The main robbery suspect is described as a white man, age 35-40, clean shaven, wearing dark pants, a beige jacket and sunglasses. The getaway driver is described only as a white man wearing a white hoodie and light pants. The getaway car is a gold or beige 4-door sedan, believed to be a Dodge Stratus or Chrysler Sebring. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects or the getaway car is asked to call Metro's Robbery Section at 828-3591 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
