The acting from time to time is a little cheesy with certain characters, but Dexter is definitely one of the best shows out there.Comment -

shit, i just got around to watching it. i moused over this thread the other night and thought about opening it, but decided i didn't want to see any spoilers, then the first post preview popped up and it said "Dude. Tore me up"
so i was pretty sure someone was going to die, it still caught me by surprise though.

Dexter lies to everyone. That's part of the mental illness. Amazing how writing can make a serial killer disgustingly lovable. I keep hearing people saying that the only good season was the first and I vehemently disagree.Comment -
he doesn't lie about everything. he lies to protect his "dark passenger". but there's nothing left to hide from debra, since she's figured out who his mom was and who his brother was. i was just put off by his hollow emotions after she confided in him. it didn't ring true to his character. he cares about his sister. he wouldve been better off admitting he knew. that he found out after all the events with the ice truck killer. or some other plausible story. he knew debra was searching for their dad's CI. so his whole plan if she found out the truth was to just play dumb? i didn't like it.
the first season was new and fresh, i like the second and third, but they didn't have the same punch as the first. but this season was pretty awesome. i wish the quinn/dexter conflict couldve been expanded a little more, although then it may have just turned into another doakes/dexter story line. i guess it could be carried over to next season. who knows. there's going to be a lot of questions as to why trinity targeted dexter. and to a lesser extent why the cycle of 3 was not finished. (which they could blame on the man-hunt)Comment -

Beat the Jerky did turn me on to Dexter. Well, I had heard a lot of buzz about it prior to watching, but Jerky was the nail in the coffin, so to speak.
I don't know, I think Dexter did a pretty good job pretending he didn't know who the Ice Truck Killer was, after all, he is a serial killer, completely incapable of remorse. The best part is that he immediately turned it around on Debra, saying that HE was the reason she was targeted. Which I thought was pretty damn brilliant. Have you ever known a person so completely dismissive of their actions? If not, well trust you me, it is possible.
As for Trinity targeting Dexter, without giving away the finale, you have a good point. But remember, Trinity did begin his sequence with a 10 year old boy, although it has never been disclosed whether or not all of the boys have perished prior to the remaining murders. So that may be the out.
I wasn't fond of the direction this season was taking with Dexter being a family man. I have a good feeling we are going to see a deeper, darker Dexter next season.Comment -

I don't see them doing that. They've portrayed him as having a real attachment to her kids, especially the boy. I don't think that would be an honest way of dealing with them, but it would be the easiest. His own son is clearly set to take on a more integral role in the character development of himself and Dexter.Comment
