Did anyone watch the world series womens college fastpitch softball on ESPN?I know they used to have more mens fastpitch and people like Eddy Feiner of the king and his court were great and he was probably a better pitcher than the women but these women can pitch. The fielding and hitting is adequate with the women too but lags in quality to the pitching.
I think pitching fast pitch softball is probably one of the only things a woman in sports can do that is competitive to the quality of mens competition in a sports position. If I were the opposing team batters when going against that amazon Abbot from Tennessee that was pitching all I would do is make contact bunting and slash hitting getting the ball in play where the women infielders would make a number of errors. You can't hit off of some of these pitchers so why not just put the ball in play and hope it has some funky spin on the ball.It might not be pretty but you might score a few runs and win ugly. The womens coaching strategy I thought was bad.
I could see this Abbot woman being able to do pretty well against major league hitters in fastpitch.A few years back I saw a regular underhand softball charity game on t.v.with allot of all stars from the major leagues and they looked pretty pathetic hitting. Then you get these 300 pound blue collar beer drinking slobs in small town leagues that can jack the ball 320 feet over the fence who can barely make it around the bases without having a heart attack.hehe!
