Just glad it wasn't a QB like usual. He earned it.

He's the first Alabama player to win the award and the second straight sophomore.

2nd best running back. The Stanford guy was the best RB and athlete in the country. Too bad he played for a terrible team.

You right, Stanford not terrible but not a great team like Alabama. Thats what I meant. He totally carried Stanford. Alabama would be in the National Championship without Ingram.

                              From AP:

Mark Ingram completed the trophy case at Alabama, delivering the first Heisman to a school that boasts one of the richest histories in college football.

The tough-running sophomore tailback won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night in the award’s closest vote. Next, he’ll try to lead the most storied program in the South to a national championship.

Ingram finished ahead of Toby Gerhart of Stanford.

I think he deserved it just like about any of these guys could have won it this season. I say congrats to him. He did look shocked by winning it and that is a good thing.

Shady & Moses, how many yards would Gerhart have gotten in the SEC?

Not to say he isn't a great back.

The reality is that the Heisman has gone from being the "most outstanding" player to "the best player on one of the couple of best teams in the country" award.

Ingram is a very good player on the best (or second best, depending on the outcome of the NC game). But he's not the best player in the country. Hell, he's not even the best running back in the country. That, IMO, is either Gerhart or Spiller.

The best player in the country had a big red N on the side of his hat...

Now, this isn't sour grapes...I saw where http://www.stiffarmtrophy.com/ had nailed the last seven Heisman winners and bet accordingly.

2nd best.....Ha!, Gerhart played every down in an offensive conference....Ingram hardly had any reps in the 4th quarter in the best defensive coference in america.
