    Few gambling questions..
Random things id like to know...

    1. in a game of 3 -6 poker, is the small blind 1 and bb 3?

    2. Is there a type of bet where a heavy underdog to win by the favorites line. Meaning, if a team is a 14 pt. dog but go on to win by 15.

    3. In reno, do the have good sports books and do the offer UFC lines

    4. what are some good sports betting movies? I liked bookies and i liked big shot, but dont know many others.

    5. Could there be a punishment on a us player who wins money without gambling by playing free games on poker sites?

    I can answer #4.

The Gambler (1974) starring James Cann. I watched it the other night and it was very enjoyable. It deals more with sportsbetting than poker. It traces the life of a degenerate gambler who is in major debt. At the same time, the degenerate gambler is an English Lit professor. It paints a very dark picture of the gambling world. Shows the desperate world of most gamblers.

Two for the Money (2005). Traces the life of a tout who makes picks for a living and the hardships endured when the picks start to fail.

Maverick (1994). Starring Mel Gibson. Takes place in the Old West where Gibson's character is a sharp poker player who tries to win a poker tournament. There are a lot of twists in this film. I found it very good and enjoyable.

Hard Eight (1996). Story of a down and out gambler in Reno who learns a few tips about making money in the casinos.

There are many others.....lot of guys on here have seen more than me I am sure. Most of these films may not be available at the local video store...you can definitely get them from your public library for sure.

Number 1. In 3 -6 Limit poker it usually is 1 and 3 for the big and small blind. I have seen it (but rarely) where it's 2 and 3. Very few places these days seem to have a 3 6 game going (seneca niagara is one that does).

Number 4. The gambler with James Caan, great movie.

High Roller: The Stu Unger Storey. While not a great movie it does show you the degenerate side of one of the best poker players to ever live.

Stung (that was the book title I don't remember the movie title) The Story of a sweet Canadian banker who ripped off his bank for millions while jetting to AC every weekend and blowing the coin. Brian Maloney was his name and I believe CIBC was the bank.
edit: Owning Mahowny is the name of the movie, it just come to me.

Number 5. While I"m not legal expert, I'm sure if you played a free game and won a prize (or money) there should be no issue any more than if you cut coupons and was picked out of a hat. But then again what do I know.

        1. Yes, you are correct. 1 and 3...

        2. No, there is no such bet. How would you prop it and grade it? However, many books offer alternate point spreads where you can bet lines way off the line such as that. You can also bet "pleasers" where you sell points off the original line...

        3. Good books? They're OK. Their limits aren't as high as what you can get down in Vegas (plus you have more places to get down action in Vegas obviously), and Vegas' limits and lines don't touch the offshore books. UFC action? Yes, some books carry lines on it.

        4. Buddy and 20 listed many that would have come off the top of my head (they even got Owning Mahowney which I think is one of the most underrated degenerate movies of all-time). I'd also throw in Richard Dreyfus and Jennifer Tilly's Let It Ride....

        5. No, no punishment. If you hit big I'd pay the taxes on it, but the odds of an audit are slim if you don't. Still, I'd list the taxes. As for legal repurcussions what you are doing IS NOT ILLEGAL...
