My Canadian bank imposes a 21-business-day hold on any non-Canadian check - all of it. Might wanna ask your bank about their rules on foreign checks.

Basically what big matt just said. Deposited at my bank, they told me 14 days, I'm in the US.

I deposited a Canadian check that said "US Funds" in my bank account yesterday, the check cleared and all the funds are available today.

It is likely drawn on an American Bank so it really is a US check.

My bank makes all checks I deposit available after 1 business day. But that doesn't mean that those checks I have actually cleared.
