    Directv NFL Ticket up $40
Looks like it's going from $209 in 2006 to $249 in 2007. The bills will start coming for the August bills. $49.80 for 5 months.

    Pretty steep hike.

They never tell subscribers about these increases.

Being that they have the exclusive rights for that package they charge that much because they know that they can get it. I'm just surprised it's not $299 is all.

        Yes, but not for Americans.

NFL Game Pass online is only available to the rest of the world ;-)

Will likely hit $299 before the end of the decade at this rate.

Nobody likes a rate increase, but for what you get with that package, I am certainly not going to complain. What's $40? Juice on one bet? Not a huge deal.

I agree. I'd probably pay whatever they charged. Just wish they'd be more up front about the increases before you spot them online or in your bill.

I remember last year that the Canadian satellite service offers this package, but I don't know how much it was though.

NFL Ticket just not worth it, once a week and games in only 2 time slots.

Depends on your perspective JJ. I'm in several fantasy football leagues, wager on many nfl games and make $249 rather quickly. So the Ticket is very much worth it to me... actually I'd pay them a lot more if they demanded it. DirecTV has the Golden Goose of sports.

less than the price of a movie for each time slot.. Yeah that's too much

The thing is you are not really watching many games even though you get them all because most go off at the same time, going from channel to channel is not going to do it for me and watch a few plays here and there.

With all the sports packages and fights, I figure my annual Directv bill is about 2500, so another $40 probably won't blow the budget. What pisses me off is they make you buy these superfan packages to watch the games in HD, although to be fair, they have never charged me for the football superfan.

You're right JJ, if you only have one tv, it's hard to get a lot of value out of the package. To really get your money's worth, you need multiple TV's set up - each with their own receiver. I have three tv's set up, each with its own satellite receiver, and another 2 tv's with "dog ear" antennae to pick up the local broadcasts... therefor watching 5 games at once. TV's are cheap these days and DirecTV only charges $5 extra per month per receiver.

I would have to agree that it's not the best value, but it sure is fun. I had DirecTV about 10 years ago and liked it, but I did nothing but watch football all day Sunday and my wife was pretty pissed. I would wait for a guy to be wrapped up and I would change to a different channel. I think now with games on Mon and Thursday and Sun night, as well as three games on the local networks for Sunday day games, as well as all the college games, I get enough games with the channel. If there is a game you really want to follow and it's not playing, you can follow on the Internet or go to a local sports bar. $250 just isn't worth. ESPN Gameplan is a better value, IMO.

If you have a HDTV, then it wouldn't be to bad. But to pay that, and still be watching it on regular TV, that is a rip off. With the way it looks in HD, its almost better then being at the game.

I'm not home on Sundays, so no need for me to buy that package. But if I was home, I'd have it every year, with Superfan included.
