I am not always near a computer and I don't have a pager that gives me scores....i was wondering if any of you guys just phone in the sportsbooks and ask them for an update on a game or something. They have TVs everywhere and are watching the games....seems like they wouldn't mind at all. Right?
Do you think sportsbooks would mind if I called their CS for updates on games?

#2Why not just call a friend? That's what I usually do; most have access to computers or ESPN.Comment -

#4Are you doing a lot of in-game wagering or 2nd half bets? I'll watch my action if I'm around a TV, but if not, it's no loss to not know what's going on.Originally posted by BuddyBearI do but my friends are not always near a computer and I don't always get a hold of them. Yesterday, had no idea how any of my bets were doing until like 9pm PST when I got back and saw the end of the A's game.
But to your original question, I wouldn't personally, since I don't like asking for favors in the first place and if I were working at the book, I would view a customer calling for game updates to be rather annoying, though I'm sure I might have to comply.Comment -

#5just let it ride. unless you're betting on halfs there is no point get yourself worked up. i remember i put 1k on the cardinals-cubs game. i called my friend around 4th inning, the cards was up 3-0...i was happy for a while til i got home and found out the game went to extra innings and cubs hit a grand slam on top of the 10th and won the game.
my advise is, chill, don't think too much about the games...we already got enough in our heads already.Comment -

#6If your not betting big forget about it, when you get home just check the scores.
Watching or following scores does not make your bet win.Comment -

#8for about $10/month, get unlimited web time on your cell phone. Espn's scores on there are pretty close to real time.Comment -

#12It takes about 5 seconds for the page to refresh. That's not faster than "tell me"? Plus, you don't need to repeat the team name 3 times. Try using "tell me" in a group of people once, it's way more stressful than a five second wait.Originally posted by picomanbut they're slooow...wanna make you feel like smashing your cellphoneComment -

#18It shouldn't cost you anything to use *67... It's *69 on land lines that costs money. But doesn't everyone have caller ID these days anyway?Originally posted by picomanit cost money to dial *67 right? kind of expensive if you use that everytime you call themComment
