Please slow down at least 5 mph and save lives, fuel, and cleaner air !
Now this could be the most important thread I have ever posted ,and it just might be the most ignored too ?
I am an extremely safe driver, well compared to 98% of our USA drivers I am anyway .
Never had a speeding ticket, drunken driving, nor one for reckless driving .
And I resent the fact that these same lousy drivers I speak of ,kill not only innocent human lives on our highways ,but also ,those beautiful and lovable animals who get plastered all over our roads .
I don't recall ever running over any animal in my lifetime, and yes ,I know some road kill is either inevitable, or, unavoidable.
I am keenly aware ,or try to be, to be watchful for animals ,especially the poor dumb squirrels ,and the somewhat, more alert deers .
I see those two slaughtered on the road much too frequently to always be excused as unavoidable .
If I had the power ,I would chop off a minimum of 10/15 mph on "all" speed zones ,then, this nation would have 10/20 % less pollution, leaving cleaner air ,save a 100,000 human lives a year[guesswork],and cut the ongoing genocide of precious animals by probably, 20 % .
I've witnessed this scary scene many times....when driving in a heavy populated neighborhood ,cars parked on both sides ,sometimes barely enough room for autos to squeeze past each other ,yet, the speed limit might say 30 mph.,now that could be suicidal ,and has been I am sure, for kids simply doing everyday what youngsters do, "play carefree, and without caution ."

Think about it ,that's all I am asking .

Gabe I can't drive at 5MPH. Way too slow.

Do you know the speed limit on most highways in Canada is 100?

    True.

very true. 55 is fast enough on the highways and fuel efficient, and learn how to time the red/green lights in your home town for goodness sakes. safer, save on gas, save on your brakes

Well to be truthful,5 mph. would be precisely what is needed in populated school zones .
What does BetPlum mean ,5mph. ?

What happens BetPlum, when a driver meets a mature ELK on the road, while driving 100 mph. ?

Thanks Abe...I am usually pretty good at speeding but not too much. Plenty of tickets and a drunken rollover at 110 slowed me down a little.

Yup, I told you about all the killings around here from drivers in a hurry. There was a lady after the game who got killed and now a kid I know got hit by a truck. He's in a full body cast right now. No, I'm not joking here.
Maybe it's just California. I heard people complain about California drivers, so maybe that's it. Pretty much everyone in L.A. has no insurance, no registration, and shouldn't even be in the country, so they drive like that.
But I've never been in an accident because I'm not an idiot. But good post Abe. Maybe we can slow down the death toll a bit...

Yes GC ,thanks for helping convince me that there is an infection of "crazy" drivers in this country ,I mean ,everybody ,it seems,is driving like june bugs ,too fast ,and too many quick darting turns with their vehicle .

I didn't get !st and 10s post. I guess he's saying I don't get chicks cuz I drive safe. Actually when I got to NorCal I like to race my Beemer (318i) on the open roads. Nascar wannabees always want some. Racecar driving is in my blood. I can go fast because I'm safe. In fact I can go extremely fast because I'm extremely safe.
Regardless, relevant thread. Two more motorist fatalities in the Metro area today. I imagine it's everywhere. Prostitutes like the chick in 1st's video are probably the worst. Absolutely no patience or command of their car.

We could drop the speed limit and punish everyone, but why should everyone be punished because of the few that can't drive safely?

As an alternative, we could make getting your license more difficult and actually punish the people who suck at driving. Leave the speed limits where they are, keep the bad drivers in the passenger seat and we should be able to accomplish your goals.

Abe, there is a wisecrack joke here somewhere. I know it would involve you a Hov-A-Round, and a walker to coincide with your pledge to get people to slow down and there would probably be some mention of dementia and not remembering the fact that while you never have ran over wildlife you have forgotten a number of pedestrians that you have crushed. I know there is material here for a joke but I can't seem to compile them in to a humorus anecdote.

most of the people on SBR:

Do not have a car or Do not leave the house for fear of missing a bet

You are preaching to the wrong choir on this one

Read the above post Jellybelly,GORE and I are actually right on this prediction of the future.
Another example for the future ,NO hospitals,NO insurance,NO doctors, people will study medical books and be their own doctors .

Now doesn't that sound better Jelly ?

Actually when I got to NorCal I like to race my Beemer (318i) on the open roads. Nascar wannabees always want some. Racecar driving is in my blood. I can go fast because I'm safe. In fact I can go extremely fast because I'm extremely safe.
Regardless, relevant thread. Two more motorist fatalities in the Metro area today. I imagine it's everywhere. Prostitutes like the chick in 1st's video are probably the worst. Absolutely no patience or command of their car.
No offense but I hope you had some kind of mod on that 318i
