Woke up and shaved off the annoying goatee I had growing, then off to feed the birds after a stop at Tim Hortons. Some of the Canada geese don't migrate, that was my destination. They weren't where I expected, had to hike a bit from the car. It was cold (-6 I, think), regret not wearing a winter jacket and tuque.

Had some unexpected visitors. Pissed me off.

We've only had a dusting so far, melted within two days. Calling for 5cm on Monday and 15-20 cm on Wednesday. Just had the snow tires put on yesterday and the snowblower is ready. How you coping?

Anyway the point is, by the end of the summer you can't walk on the grass along the shore at the patches the geese decide they like. There is, like, a turd every square inch - over large areas. You don't want to ride your bike on there because all kinds of it gets up in the treads and never gets out - and I keep my bike inside here. It doesn't really smell but there is a principle.

I must confess, I don't regularly leave home to feed animals in the wild. Don't remember the last time I fed geese, and I have a pretty good memory. Throw the odd apple core to a mangy squirrel, that's about it.

I was out of the camera's eye when they swarmed in large numbers. Actually swung the bag of bread in their direction. They didn't flinch. Hungry buggars they were.
