    Roy Jones - Danny Green
Anyone betting this? I haven't looked too closely at the particulars yet, but it seems to be a bad matchup for a 40-something Jones with no legs.

Yeah I dunno. This thread brought back memories of how dazzled I used to be with Jones when I used to watch him on pay-per-view with a bunch of buddies. But as I think the situation through, that must have been, like, early to mid 90's ???

Long time ago in boxing years.

Like much of the world, I have lost track of boxing.

Early to mid 90's is right, back when Jones was Superman. He still has incredible hand speed, which is the main reason he can still beat B+/A- fighters with relative ease.

This might be the case again tonight, although Green is a big tough dude. If he manages to push Jones back in the ropes and work him from close range, he might pull a Tarver and win a messy decision. Dunno.

Could be a pretty good fight.

Roy's so vulnerable at this point - he stays on the ropes far too long, has little lateral movement now, still doesn't utilize his jab enough. But Green looked so bad against Anthony Mundine a few years back. And Roy's hand speed is still better than all but a select few. I don't know why Roy would be taking this fight in Australia unless he were certain he can toy with Green. Other than Calzaghe, he hasn't fought a capable guy in four years.

          Over 11.5 -175 for me.

And highlights of Roy's last fight against Lacy, where he looked incredible:

Is it me or does Danny Green just not look that big?

havn't put as much time into breaking this fight down as I probably should have but jones by 12 round ud at -107 looks good, probably hedge just a bit with Green winning in round 10-12 at +1775

Where did Roy even get hit?? I've watched it about 100x on youtube but they don't have a slow-mo or close-up. It looks like in the ear or side of the head. Didn't seem like he shoulda been that disoriented. It's hard to remember the old Roy after his last handful of performances.

Right on the temple. Worst place to get hit.

Looked like the side of the head, farther back than the temple. Same kinda punch that got him KTFO by Glen Johnson. Weird shit, cause he took much harder punches from Lacy in his previous fight.

Did he announce his plans for the future? I haven't been following. I'm afraid that he'll turn into Holyfield.

Oh, and Roy, when asked after the fight about his future plans, said something along the lines of he'll probably just go back home and retire.
