Situational betting question: Why win games win ur season is over?
Teams like TB would be better served just to lose out, insure the top pick in the upcoming draft and focus on next year, I can understand fighting hard to win one game so you dont get labeled the worst team ever (though the Lions last year were so bad it would be hard to be considered worse) but after u notch that win why not just half ass it and insure u get the best possible team for next year.

A lot of teams don't consider the top picks desirable anymore. Unless there is a John Elway or Peyton Manning coming out the cost of the top picks is getting out of hand and many teams prefer to pick lower.

whenever people use logic like this, it always fails. you can't use any kind of logic when making picks, sports aren't supposed to make sense.

Players don't think like that. They are playing for contracts and their future. They don't know if they're still going to be with the same team years later after a rebuilding project.

Players are trying to make big game-changing plays. They want to be winners. You think a corner is going to let his cover run around free so his team might be better 5 years down the line? It doesn't work that way. He wants a pick-6 every time.

Teams in the NFL don't tank games like NBA teams do... it just doesn't happen. As far as the draft goes, until they get a rookie cap in place it's actually a disadvantage to draft in the top 3. The investment is too high compared to the risk that goes along with even the most highly rated prospects. Once again this is not the NBA where the #1 overall has a far greater likelihood of becoming a superstar and his contract is limited in his early years to begin with.

Teams that are eliminated from the playoffs playing teams that must win to make the playoffs are about 57% ATS the last few weeks of the year.

Wow thats fukin crazy, Masu's right none of this shit makes any sense, fightin tooth and nail for nothing when relaxing would get you a better draft position, wonder why these teams didnt play well early on when the games actually meant something

Guess they're all just worried about their salaries if they slack off during the meaningless games

You obviously didn't read any of the other posts other than the one that agreed with you. You also are an idiot if you believe that these players really are "slacking off"

The margin in the NFL between the best team and the worst team is generally so small that its not about them playing better early in the year. There are lots of factors that go into each weeks win or loss...Gameplan, injuries, in game management. matchups, etc. Its not just about playing well whenever they feel like it......sometimes everything comes together late in the season when it didn't early.

You can't be so short sighted....
