My experience at Mexico's Caliente sportsbook...
I know I said I wouldn't be back for 3-4 weeks, but I had to come back and post my experience at the Caliente this weekend. Then I'm gone for a little while. First off, I made almost 3k in 2 days, awesome. The Caliente is amazing for people in Southern Cali, but there a few major downsides to it, which I'll discuss later...

So I arrive Saturday, before the Braves game. Entered through Otay Mesa border crossing - on foot. I place a dime on the braves. First thing I notice is that there are redsox fans in the house. Fuking redsox fans, everywhere you go, they are there. Loudest, most annoying and obnoxious sports fans I've ever seen. As the Sox are destorying the braves, the redsox fans are cheering, bettors are going nuts..I was pretty pissed. I'm thinking to myself "they probably have $20 on the game". So I went up to one of them and asked them how much they had, they said $10. I told them I'd give them $40 for their winning ticket, if they'd shut the fuk up and leave. They declined. I put in a bet on the ottawa senators 2 mins before it starts, 2k. Some guy next to me told me to take them, and while I put no value in anything anyone says, I sort of liked them, although I rarely ever bet hockey. During the game, I became so annoyed. The people there are all experts. They all talk smack, and make it seem like their wagers for $50 or $100 are BIG. they are all "experts" and all come back and say "look i told you they'd win" and go on and on forever about how they were right. they fail to mention that they have no $ and lost their other bets.

day 2 - won 2K on the spurs 1h. when i went to leave, the line to get over the border was 5-6 hrs. it was incredibly long, and stretched over a mile thru TJ. I went through the caliente (there are two, the right next to the border) and found this huge guy who was drinking and depressed from losses. i told him i'd pay him if he got me over. he said he'd do it, i said $20, he said $40, I said deal. we went straight to the front of the line, no one asked a question. i'm not going to get into details, but this isn't the kinda dude ud wanna mess with, very nice guy though.

here are some problems i have with the caliente:

    1) the people in there. everyone is obnixous, they are all "experts". there's also a lot of sad stories in there. people trying to cope with losses and a ruined life, telling their stories about losing.

    2) leaving with $. everyone asks you how much you are betting, and you don't wanna lie because they literally follow you around, not on purpose, but they try to be your friend. it doesn't feel good cashing out 2-4K and having all these people who've been losing and are desperate for $.

    3) getting over the border.

11-10? Limits? Do they offer internet where you could deposit, bet here, and collect there?

I remember reading something a few months back where a Caliente book was closed for political reasons and stiffed customers because they could. Do you know if that's been ironed out?

well from what I know your not allowed to place wagers from United states in their site. I once tried for a busy cousin who ask me to place a wager for him and when I tried to make a wager for it did not allow me. He lives in Mexico and well I live in the United States but this was 2 years ago.

$10, sometimes. guys cash 30, 40 grand there sometimes. they do stiff or give run around on big wins to busters and they have informants who will follow you.
