Hello I'm an sbr noob, just thought I'd post a little Intro, I'm loving the site, been snooping around for a month or 2 now & signed up a few days ago.
I'm from the UK but I'm a big fan of US sports & I've had a bit of success betting on them before, it seems like most on here are in the US right?
I signed up to John Morrison back in March before I knew that this place existed & I been follwing Doc's 4*+ picks which have done me OK recently.
I'll sign up to a service sooner or later so I can share them too.
It's amazing how different the terminology and general betting is between Europe & the US, you got some great games to bet on (higher scoring sports have got to be more accurate right?) but I will never be convinced that your odds system is better than digital odds (-225 = 1.44 etc)
I'm 33 & been betting for 15 years although until the start of this year I would always lose a little or just tread water so it was always for the enjoyment, the money I've made from Morrison has kind of given me the little bit of freedom & confidence I needed to take on other bets & now it's going really well to the point where I'm planning on going pro if things continue like this for another 18 months or so.
I'm a big spreadsheet user & I've tried to develop systems before but not had too much joy, or they involved a lot of legwork and weren't worth it. I think I've maybe got something going laying certain bets on BetFair but I'm not sure you guys would be able to get access an exchange so not much point sharing it, still not sure about it anyway.
Reading the Brandon Lang posts is funny, I only just realised that the character in Two for the Money uses that name & from what I remember it ends fittingly with the fu@k-nugget showing that he knows naff all, does anyone know if this is based anywhere near reality? Apparently the film had a $35mill budget & reaped in $30.5mill, Lang would say that he took the extra half point on that and it ended up being a winning bet... lol Sure to me it seems odd that someone has to give something the hard sell when you should be able to let your record speak for itself, kinda stinks before you even get started if you know what I mean, mind you JM's not much better, the pile of junk I get sent through from him.
I've tried to find most stuff without asking questions, been involved in forums before and you know the most annoying feckers are the ones that don't do a quick search before asking simple questions, I'm wondering if a post combining links to all the current JM posts would be a good thing, like a central repository for JM stuff so would be easily found when needed or by noobs.
One question that I've found hard to find a clear answer to is the old US betting law thing, which States can & can't you bet from? Are there ways around it or are you guys all from states where it's legal to bet?
My dream would be to own a place in the US so that I can get a couple of cable feeds in then fit them up to a couple of Sling Boxes & watch live feeds from wherever I am in the world. I quite like cooler weather & with the proximity of so many sporting teams in the North Eastern states I'm thinking maybe around there, plus the New York flights back to Blighty are shorter & cheaper. Is it legal to bet anywhere up there or would I have to move to Canada? (is it legal in Canada, I don't know)
Anyway, written too much as I usually do, great to be here, thanks for providing such a great service.
Here's to our future success
StevieM
