DENVER — When you have lost three games in a row and you're about to play your division archrival with first place at stake, the last thing you need is to have your coach make an offhand comment that stokes the fire in the belly of the opponent.
But that's exactly what Josh McDaniels did. Before Sunday's AFC West showdown with the Chargers, Denver's first-year coach was within earshot of some San Diego linebackers on the field when he popped off and said, "We own you."
McDaniels told the San Diego Union-Tribune that Chargers players started the pregame banter, adding, "I'm not making a story about this. If I did, I'd be able to tell you some things that aren't for papers."

Denver is a sinking ship. They played over their heads at the beginning of the year and got lucky on teams like NE and Cincy. They are who we thought they are. Their season win total opened at 7 1/2 u50...closed at 6, 6 1/2...They are playing true to form now.
