    Questions for the computer savvy
I recently had my computer in the shop for some upgrades and it has come back changed. I am wondering about a couple little issues relating to SBR forum that seem like they should be correctable.

I can no longer cut/copy and paste text by using right-click. I can block text the same as before by clicking and dragging, but I have to go up and use the Edit menu to do the rest.

I can no longer save pics from the forum by using right-click. I right-click on a pic in a thread and nothing happens at all. Unlike the first problem I was describing, I don't know of a back up plan that works for this.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I assume you don't have another mouse laying around to make sure it isn't the mouse part?

Are you using the same browser version as before?
Are you using the same mouse, with same drivers?

I assume you tried restarting the computer at least once. Odd software bugs will sometime mess up mouse functions.

My only other guess is that the computer shop might've used another, fancier mouse that forced the installation of different mouse drivers that interfere with yours. Seems rather unlikely though.

Do Ctrl+C (Copy) Ctrl (Cut) and Ctrl+V (paste) work for you?

you have to first answer the simplist question, which is does another mouse work on it.. then you can go from there

True. It is very frustrating for me. I don't know why I am so dense about computers but I just have a big mental blind spot.

I don't think it's the mouse. For one thing, I can do all the right-click copy/paste functions at other places like e-mail and Excel. I can do the right-click saving of pics at websites. For another thing, I have just switched the mouse and the issues remain. It seems to just be this forum.

Hang on lemme see about another forum . . . .

Yeah I just tried theRx and Covers and the right-click stuff wouldn't work. So it is a forum settings issue?

I have restarted the computer. No effect.

I can do the copy/paste functions with control keys as suggested.

Actually the copy/paste stuff is pretty easy to work around. Not being able to save pics proved to be a bit of a hassle today. Is there a workaround for that using ctrl keys?

I am stumped on the question of if I'm using the same browser version. It was the same mouse but I really don't know about drivers. Maybe I just need to call my computer guru. But sometimes there are really simple solutions to my little issues so I thought I'd check.

                    hmmm

It wouldn't be the mouse of the drivers in this situation if you were able to right click copy/paste and right click save images on another site. And other forums dont work as well? Very weird...Id contact the sbr techs because if cant be your computer settings or mouse settings if it works elsewhere.

Have you tried a different browser?

Have you check your security settings for the SBR forum and possibly gambling related websites? Try right clicking on 5 dimes or some other form of gambling website.( although i don't know how this would stop you from right clicking)

The keyboard shortcuts are the easiest fix... Although you should not have to compromise what you are comfortable doing w/ new computers...

A keyboard shortcut is not what hes talking about. Hes talking about a issue hes having with the mouse settings in regards to certain web pages

so when you highlight an area in a forum and then right click. does:

                          a. it wont let you right click at all and the text just stays highlighted

                          or

                          b. you can right click but all the options are in grey and wont let you?

I played through the sbr settings and page settings and security features on IE and Mozilla Firefox and don't see anything that would impede you from right clicking on your computer

                            Try this Mud Cat

go to http://ctunnel.com/ and then from there in the address bar inside the website navigate yourself to the sbrforum and try right clicking. Since this is a proxy it will tell us if a security feature is stopping you from right clicking on gambling related web pages. For whatever reason

Yes I understand that. I am echoing Jgray's sentiments that the Ctrl + ___ is the simplest workaround. Hence the words "easiest fix." Sounds like you are on it though ace.

Oh! i actually misread your post. Now i know what you were saying. Yea thats a simpler way of looking at it but i dont like the copy paste keyboard functions. Me personally id rather still go File<edit<copy

Lol, no prob, sry I copped tude. I personally like the keyboard shortcuts. But you are right and people shouldn't have to rely on "workarounds." Computers are here to make our lives more convenient and should perform in the way that works best for the individual user.

My suggestion was two-fold. One determine whether the keyboard functions WORK (if not, he knows it's not his mouse) and two, give him a work-around while until he figures out his problem.

Also my preference is the keyboard function...

First of all, thank you all for your efforts and thoughts.

I'm pretty befuddled here. I tried ctunnel. I entered the SBR address there and it brought me here but there was a message saying the administrator has banned my IP address. I think I had followed the instructions properly.

I did, on further examination, discover that the right click functions don't work at any of the sportsbooks/exchanges I tried. I tried about 5. They also did not work at the ctunnel website.

But then I tried coming to SBRforum through Internet Explorer and the right-click functions worked!! I tried a few sportsbooks and those functions worked there too.

So I guess if I see a pic I really want to save, I can get it that way easily enough. Maybe I should just work in IE all the time. But that is probably another whole big bunch of issues.

                                      "a" is the answer.

Anyway I don't suggest you guys put any more effort into this. It looks like I can go on with my life. There are solutions to everything. It is just puzzling. Maybe I'll run it by my computer guy on Monday.

                                      Thanks very much again.
