    Pinnacle's opening lines
Any reason why some baseball totals at Pinnacle open at -120, -117, -122?

I understand that some books offer their lines to some of their higher end clients before they are released, could their lines be hit hard by them and they open to the public at a higher juice rate?

No idea about your pinnacle question.... Do you still follow line movement for opening lines at sharp books? Are you still betting that 1 point difference at game time between sharp books and square books? If you are how has it been going?

Line Movement always, one point difference in sharp/square books is considered but not given too much weight.

Why shouldn't they open at those prices?

A half point in baseball totals is worth more than ten cents

If you open 8.5 O/U -105 you hit the over, if they open 9 O/U -105 then you hit the under, so they have to use those type of numbers sometimes.

Pinnacle's lines are not hit before they go up, but Pinnalce tries to keep the same number as other books right after opening to encourage people to compare prices and get the lines into shape. If Pinnacle posts 8.5 and everyone else has under 9 -125, then a lot of people don't know which line is higher or lower and that's bad for business. So even if that means keeping up -130, that can make sense for a while. This is especially true with 7 or a low 7.5.

Also, while they are not hit before they go up, they often get hit quickly when soft numbers get posted. What you are seeing is often not the true opener at Pinnacle, and the line moves quickly at first.
