in reality its probably closer to 20% because they dont count all the older people who have taken miniumum wage jobs from 16-17 year old kids. Economy is bad

Let's be honest here.Unemployment in union welfare keynesian thugville ''Michigan''is really about 50% They have the balls to declare that people working ''sluffing off''at makework keynesian government scams are employed. They are worthless as on bulls.Anyone who works for GM and Chrysler and all the companies that supply them stuff are really on welfare and they say they are employed too. It's all a slight of hand, smoke and mirrors, shucking and jiving method of democrats ''Obama''fudging the facts to make them look good.

Is there anyone left there in the private sector free market to support all the socialist freeloading deadbeats?

I get Michigan news where I live and alot of the construction type guys laid off were whining that they have used 70 weeks of unemployment and want, need and deserve more .Then besides that glorified welfare they were getting what's called sub pay, fuel assitance, food stamps.etc.etc.The liberal 22 year old tv reporters making 18k a year with 50k in college debt felt sorry for these people. If the eye candy tv babe got canned tomorrow she would get diddly squat from the state and she would be looking for another 18 k a year job in Sioux Falls ,South Dakota at a tv station there.

The moral of the story is,make socialism the law of the land in Michigan and scare all the investors out and then you whine when it's a ghost town and you tell Obama to shakedown the tax payers all over the country to bail Michigan out.

Some companies in Michigan were originally government financed as upstart companies and they failed a next time and a next time as state run industry after the original government financed company went broke.I live near Cirrus airplane that's hitting the skids and the state financed Northwest Airlines and they failed and went bankrupt leaving the tax payer as the bag holder and then they financed Sirrus and they are going under. It's cheaper just to do a buyout dealie with union thugs that are laid off and just give them300k and tell them to leave the state.

Strange that Michigan is being hit so much harder than Ontario - which is right next door.
Our unemployment rate is 8.6% as of Oct 9.

Yes, things are a bit tougher than they used to be here as well but we still have Honda, Toyota, Lexus GM, Ford and Chrysler still building vehicles for export to the United States.

Honda has three plants going at full capacity in Alliston, ON and they keep building vehicles with no end in sight.
