#4This is why you are not a Donald Trump Deuce. Who the **** is going to buy condos in Detroit with a 50% unemployment rate and 75% foreclosure rate? Stick to flipping burgers and leave the business decisions for the pros.Comment -

#6Deuce, I design condos for a living. Credit has dried up. Developers can't get credit to build them and people can't get approved for mortgages if they finally build them. Get a clue son.Comment -

You can't possibly make that statement if you actually know where it is. It's a giant white elephant turd. Half the parking is dirt / mud lots and people's front yards.
If you've ever been there you know that they hold up the roof with giant blowers which pressurize the building.
First time I ever went to the Silverdome it was one of Barry Sanders first games. They gave out these big cardboard "Barry" signs to everyone on the way in. Partway through the first quarter the Lions were losing, some joker folded up his sign like a paper airplane, chucked it, and the air currents from those blowers carried it all the way down onto the middle of the field. It was fantastic. The refs were picking them up for the rest of the game.Comment -

#14Deuce, Robyn used to live right next to that stadium. When I would visit, I thought it looked like a big helium balloon.
I blame Barry Sanders.Comment -

#15If England had this place it would be the best stadium in the country.
I guess when everyone gets stadium welfare these days from the tax payer it's pretty easy to say a not so old, once state of the art stadium or arena isn't good enough anymore.Comment -

#16Now that's what you call losing some coin on a sale, unreal.
However, they kind of had to sell because they were getting killed with the annual costs associated with keeping itComment -

#18It certainly is one of the strangest pieces of real estate. You would think that it has value but it is more of a burden than anything else. The upkeep is 1.5 million/year but the expense to tear it down is unimaginable because it is a giant piece of steel. You can't just knock it down. It would take an army of welders months to cut it up. I wonder whatever happened to those huge curtains they used to hang to cut the stadium in half for Pistons games. In the end the most valuable part of the deal is the hundreds of acres of level land but who would want to live next to a giant steel dome?Comment -

#19Its not technically in Pontiac but the city of Pontiac owned the building. They can't afford the upkeep anymore (Deuce - did you see where Arts, Beats, and Eats may be in Royal Oak next year?)
That area has really gone downhill in the last few years. It wasn't long ago that Randan Samuelson developed the property across the street into corporate parks and hotels. Lelli's restaurant moved from downtown Detroit to up the street on Opdyke. Now, there's now value there.
No one can get funding to develop any kind of property in Michigan, let alone near Pontiac. The soccer will probably fail as well, leaving a big white elephant to decay once more.Comment -
