When do you start handicapping football?
I posted this in the football thread but no one goes there...

I am curious how early people start looking at NFL and college football. I realize single games would be virtually impossible to handicap, but when do you start looking at teams and creating power ratings and maybe looking at season win/loss totals for teams? Also, conferences...

The season ended and I stopped handicapping football to focus on other sports.

I am wondering how early in the year (May, June, July, Aug) do average (if you handicap football year long maybe you are above average) handicappers start looking at football again...

Plenty of work to be done looking for angles, analyzing past data, preparing for next year, etc.

I think you could probably look at personnel changes (new coaches, free agent acquisitions and losses, etc). Maybe examine last year's W/L records, ATS records, O/U trends, etc. I just don't know how much value it would be to start now or wait until July when teams are in training camp. As you can tell, I am itching for football!
